The African international study engine that the African rice center (African いね center, English: Africa Rice Center) performs kind development, the spread of rice. Through the study, I was established for the purpose of relaxation of the poverty of Africa and the thing that I contributed to of the food security. WARDA of the popular name is an abbreviated designation of the West Africa rice development association (West Africa Rice Development Association) which is a former name. I transcribe it into WARDA as follows.

In 1971, I was established with United Nations Project (UNDP), United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the leadership of the economic committee meeting (ECA) in Africa as voluntary Kyodo Shisetsu by 11 countries of West Africa. I was affiliated with Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) in 1986. I enlarged the area for throughout subSahara Desert Africa (sub-Saharan) from September, 2003 and was renamed to "African rice center". It becomes the constitution in 21 countries as of 2008, and member nations are going to increase more. In June, 2008, it was announced that Egypt joined it for the first time as a country except the subSahara Desert [1].

The headquarters was located in Monrovia, Liberia at first, but, via Ivorian suburbs of Bouake Stauntonia hexaphylla and Malian Bamako, came back to Ivorian Abidjan (the headquarters) and Bouake (research center) again in 2015 although I moved to Beninese Cotonou from 2005. WARDA has an area study station in Institute for international tropical agriculture (IITA) in St. Louise suburbs of Senegal and Ibadan, Nigeria.

I perform farmer participation type technique (PVS, Farmer's participatory varietal selection) activity about upbringing and the spread of ネリカ.
