Yumiko Kurahashi (くらはしゆみこ, 1935 (1935) from October 10 to 2005 (2005) June 10) is a Japanese novelist. Real name, Kumagaya (there is a bear) Yumiko, maiden name, Kurahashi. "よもつひらさか streets" are fantastic in the latter period while a satire-like tendency is seen a caricature with the early work including "adventure of Miyaki strike Q" "Communist Party", and there are many SF-like elements depending on a work.

Career

I am born in Tosayamadacho, Kami-gun, Kochi (existing Kami-shi) as the eldest daughter of the dentist. I want to be a psychiatrist and take an entrance examination for the public medical department, but, via private Tosa Senior High School, fail. Because mother objects to an unemployed person, I belong to Kyoto Women's University Japanese literature subject. I take an entrance examination for the medical department again, but fail. The further unemployed person is not forgiven and enters the Japanese girl hygiene junior college special course dental health course [1]. I go to Tokyo and enter the dormitory of the campus. It was the life of four people to 6 tatami. I graduate from a university and pass a national board dental hygiene examination. I stayed in Tokyo while working part-time as a dental hygienist and I did entrance to school [2] in Meiji University department of literature literature department French literature specialty and received instruction of Masanao Saito and learned from Mitsuo Nakamura afterwards. I apply for President of Meiji University Prize during attendance at school in "Communist Party". I took up "Being and Nothigness" of Sartre in the graduation thesis [3]. "Communist Party" knows the decision in president Prize by the telegram from the university during homecoming and goes to Tokyo. The novel "Communist Party" is announced and I take it with "Mainichi Shimbun" literary arts comment on current events column, and Ken Hirano of the professor at Meiji University gives it and, for 1,960 years at school, attracts attention of "Meiji University newspaper". "The Communist Party" was reprinted in "文學界" and became a candidate of the Akutagawa Prize in the first half in 1960. I start writer activity with [2] to enter a school of higher grade in a university studies graduate school literature graduate course. I announce the short story work in sequence in "文學界" or "a new opportunity". It became the Akutagawa Prize candidate at "a summer end" successively, but did not win it. In the same year, I publish sketchbook "Communist Party" and, in the next year, win bas bleu Prize. In 1963, I win a Toshiko Tamura Prize prize. I was admired equally with Shintaro Ishihara, Takeshi Kaiko, Kenzaburo Oe and others as a new generation writer after "the third new face" and was often compared with Oe with the common point that made its debut for a style in particular and school days.

In 1961, the first long piece published "a dark trip" from eastern capital Publishing, but I had it pointed out by Jun Eto when it might be only the imitation of "the change of heart" of Michel Butor and developed for "a foreign literature imitation debate". As for the person, this assumes that originally a reader premises that it is done inspire in "a change of heart" of ビュトール and reads it in the work notebook of "all Yumiko Kurahashi anthologies" and does it when it was the intention of the work to have introduced the technique of the stream of consciousness than a chief character being called you in the second person again from ビュトール. I had a problem with blood pressure and a digestive organ system and might fall down unconscious though I took an examination to studying in the United States of the Fulbright on recommendation of Hitoshi Ito and went to Tokyo to prepare. I repeat an overhaul, but the departure in the United States declines it after all without physical condition being good. I publish "a Saint girl" from newly written Shinchosha. I am asked the will of the studying abroad from Fulbright committee and go to Tokyo from Nishi-Izu of the rest. I study in American Iowa State University from 1966, and wealthy he of the husband enters フィルムワークショプ of university studies, too. I restore health in the ground and return home in the next year. In 1968, I deliver an eldest daughter window. In addition, I announce friend Virginia Harz Bergh who got to know in studying abroad and novel "Virginia" where I drew experience in the United States on to a group. I announce "the long dreamland" affected by ability and a writing style of Greek tragedy and Yasunari Kawabata at the same time to the new tide. "The cruel children's story for adults" of (1984) became the longtime seller in 1984. It was not written the full-length novel partly because I fell sick in the later years. It was the writer who wrote it in traditional usage of kana, and Antoine de sun = テグジュペリ a lot of translation of the juvenile literature including "the prince of the star" dealt with Shel Silverstein "to look for me".

I died at 69 years old by expansion type cardiomyopathy (2005) on June 10 in 2005. The translation "prince of the modern version star" became the posthumous work. A prize for service was conferred in particular from (2006), Meiji University of the old school in 2006 after the death, and a retrospective show was held in university studies.
