The Web Lee = Foss berry automatic revolver (Webley-Fosbery Self-Cocking Automatic Revolver) is a reaction use-type automatic rotary handgun developed in the U.K. (automatic revolver ). George Foss berry () lieutenant colonel designed it, and Web Lee and Scot () company produced it from 1901 through 1915. A characteristic zigzag groove is dug in a cylinder. It is said that it may be made a deal with large amount more than $ 10,000 in the collector market now.

History
It was about the time when the spread of automation handguns just began that Lieutenant Colonel Foss Bury devised this automatic rotary handgun. This design plan performed コッキング and the turn of the cylinder as a series of movement, and a cylinder and the barrel were things to retreat together with a frame again in an occasion of the movement. The first trial product remodeled the Colt single action army made in the United States. フォズベリー acquires the patent about this design on August 16, 1895 and acquires a patent about the design that increased improvement in June, 1896 and October some other time [1].
The Foss berry brought in this design in for the public welfare in the U.K. at the time and P Web Lee and sun Corporation of military Birmingham that was handgun major (P. Webley & Son). The company is W.C. later It merges with Scott & Sons company and Richard Ellis & Son and changes a company name to Web Lee and Scot (). I improved the design of the Foss berry more in Web Lee Corporation and exhibited it by a trial carried out in biz Lee () in June, 1900 for the first time as "Web Lee = Foss berry automatic revolver" (Webley-Fosbery Automatic Revolver) [1].
The use bullet adopted the .455 bullet which was a British article supplied by the government handgun bullet at first, but the .38ACP bullet model was designed behind, too. 455-caliber of models were 6 running fire like the conventional rotary handgun, but 38-caliber of models were able to use the full moon clip for the loading by 8 running fire. In addition, 38-caliber of models had a short cylinder, and the retreat distance of the frame by the reaction was short with it, too. There was the thing which was built using a short frame in 455-caliber of models. There was derivation type from mark I to VI.
Because I separated the turn of the cylinder with trigger mechanism, I could perform stable shooting quickly and was popular as a handgun for the sports shooting in the public welfare market. Well-known shooting player Walter Y naan () is known by having used Web Lee = Foss berry habitually. He is shooting society of 1902, but, using Web Lee = Foss berry, it is said that I let six hit it for one from distance of 12 パッスス to 2 inches during seven seconds. In addition, I let 12 hit it for one of 3 inches by the shooting using the speed loader in approximately 15 seconds [2].
7.5 inches, 6 inches, 4 inches of barrels were prepared to Web Lee = Foss berry, and the custom tailoring was possible, too. Similarly I was able to give a life ring known for custom tailoring as the ceremony of Metford. 22-caliber of adapters for the target shooting were prepared optionally.
I it as a military gun
Although I thought this gun to be the ideal handgun for the cavalry soldier in Web Lee Corporation, the public adoption by the government office was not performed. Even if full length sees the weight in 44 ounces (1,239 g) and a standard at the time only with a gun more than 11 inches (280mm) as for the Web Lee = Foss berry, it is a very large-scale handgun, and this is because it was thought that it is hard to treat it. In Boer War and World War I, a few examples using .455-caliber of models of the Web Lee = Foss berry which British staff officer officials of the front brought in as private properties are reported [3]. According to this, the use of reaction mechanism of the Web Lee = Foss berry constructed by precision manufacturing parts is easy to come under an influence with mud and the rain, and it is said that it was hard to use it in the front. In addition, the コッキング method is reported as problems. コッキング of the normal rotary handgun had only to cause a cock with a thumb with holding a gun, but had to let the whole frame already retreat using one hand while maintaining a gun with one hand in the case of Web Lee = Foss berry.
As for the Web Lee = Foss berry, production was canceled during 1915 through 1918 during World War I. It was said that the number of the total production was less than 5,000 orders, but most of remained unsold and were placed in the catalogue of Web Lee Corporation until about 1939.
Operation method
The Web Lee = Foss berry is a reaction use-type automatic revolver (). In the structure, I am divided into three parts namely barrel and cylinder part, closure mechanism and hammer part and frame region storing trigger, re-coil spring, grip, safety device roughly.
排莢, the process until the loading are similar to other modern Web Lee revolvers from the opening of the cylinder. A barrel and cylinder part is opened when I push the lever of the upper receiver side and falls down forward, and 排莢 from a cylinder is performed at the same time. After the loading, I am fixed by raising a cylinder and barrel part again.
コッキング is performed by pulling a barrel and cylinder part in this state behind and moves to the position that an internal spring can shoot.
When a barrel and cylinder part retreats by hand-operated コッキング or reaction, a turn lever attached to a frame wakes up a hammer, and the projection of the frame is engaged in the zigzag groove of the cylinder and turns a cylinder.
It is the handgun which assumed that I carry the Web Lee = Foss berry in full cock namely the state that I can shoot. Therefore a safety device is established in the left side surface of the grip. If a lever is level, the safety device is removed and shear and a hammer are cut if pushed down and cannot shoot it. I can operate this lever only in a state made コッキング.
In the initial model, in the zigzag groove of the cylinder, depth was heterogeneous, and the projection on the frame side was spring-style complexity, too. This was a design to prevent the backlashing of the cylinder, but was abolished as complicated structure excessively later. I prevented backlashing in the model of afterward by regulating the angle of the groove, and the depth of the groove became uniform, and the projection became rigid, too. The latch for the cylinder fixation was moved from the hammer side to the barrel side afterwards, too.
The last model of the Web Lee = Foss berry was announced in 1914. This model comprised a short cylinder, and a trigger spring and a recoil lever were strengthened.
