Vejle
Vejle (Vejle) is a city of Denmark. I belong to the south Denmark area, Vejle basics local government.
It is located in the Jutland east bank and is the town in the depths of the Vejle fjord. It is the area with ups and downs, and, in low flat Denmark, there is relatively the point of 170 meters at altitude of the natural topography, too. Hilly areas spread out to a town and the north and south of the fjord. History
Because it was an intersection place of a river and the highway than ancient times, it developed as a commercial city. Kojima of the Grace river had the town at the start. Imperial grant is granted in 1327, and it is after first that the name of the town is known.
During the Middle Ages, it was the market town where Vejle was important to a trader and a craftsman. It prospered in this state until the mid-17th century. Weill of this time developed by agriculture and the trade of the domestic animal and traded with town Lubeck, Flensburg and others of the Germany territory now.
From the late 17th century through the early 18th century, the population of Vejle decreased for plague and war. In 1796, Vejle played a key role of the Vejle prefecture established newly, and the town expanded it in the 19th century, and the improvement such as a new port, the railroad station in the fjord was done.
From the mid-19th century to the 20th century, Vejle developed from the local market town to the industrial center. There were much wool spinning mills, and even another name called "Manchester, Denmark" was known through the metalwork of the town.
Recently the industry of Vejle moved to food industry. There is one of the world's largest chewing gum factories producing the gum of the "gum link" brand. Importance of the food industry began to fade, and other sections, a thing such as the info-com industry posted power recently.
