"Devil (black pen のあくま) of the black pen" is a Japanese whodunit by Jiro Akagawa. The third product of "the devil series." It was published serially in "a high 2V entrance into a school of higher grade course" of Gakken from April, 1990 to March, 1991.
Outline
Misato hanged himself/herself when I went for a visit of Misato Kusaba of the classmate who was absent from a school for a cold for one week. Misato narrowly escaped from death a life by a quick judgment of Kyoko, but the cause was a parting letter masquerading as the handwriting of the lover.
Cases happen for "a letter" in sequence afterwards. The clue of the criminal using the black ink. Yuriko confront a mean criminal.
