Sony, the ICD series
ICD is a product model number of the IC recorder which Sony develops and sells. I use a series name of "IC RECORDER" from the beginning of series development.

I describe a product released in Japan as follows.
ICD-50 series
ICD-50 was released as an IC voice recorder for the Sony's first public welfare in November, 1996.
Is spent for the simple "voice memo" use which is not a preservation use by a record method and fewer memory capacity (ICD-50 is 16Mbit up to 12 minutes) that followed PCM at the time of release; such as a meeting or the lecture, as for the recording, tape and the MD media were yet the leading role for a long time. It features a design of the palm size in imitation of a stopwatch. ICD-65 is released each in ICD-80, 1999 in ICD-70, 1998 equipped with the jog dial of ICD-55, 60 which can record it in 1997, and increased (memory capacity) at time and the Sony specialty. The appearance follows all ICD-50.
There is the software for the PC of other selling called "Wav Link" in ICD-70, and a PC can save a business by being connected to the PC using an exclusive cable.
ICD-R series
With a model released in 1999, there are 2 models of ICD-R100/200.

ICD-P series
PC connection-response entry model following from the BP series. The B series and the living apart that it non-supports PC connection are carried out. The recording form is TRC.

ICD-U series
The model who can be connected to the direct PC without using the USB cable. Only monaural recording is available for the recording procedures in TRC, but copes with reproduction of the MP3. I do not cope with record and playback in LPEC.

ICD-UX series
The model who can be connected to the direct PC without using the USB cable like the U series. Thin light weight is colorful and pre-sets five kinds of effects at the time of the reproduction and assumes the use of the music player. The record and playback format is MP3. LPEC
One of the characteristics of the ICD series includes that I use original codec called "LPEC" (L peck) for the compression of the sound that I recorded. It is adopted for the first time in ICD-BP120/220 and after that adopts it with most of released models. In addition, there is the time when only LPEC ran through the correspondence rigidly while other companies model adopts general-purpose codec such as MP3, WMA.
