County area
The county area that started as a jurisdiction in (1879) in 1879 at the time is a part (each Fukube-cho town) of Iwami-cho, Iwami-gun and Tottori-shi.
History
I it in the early modern times from the ancient times
It was old and said 巨濃郡 (I weave this saw). In the county homesite, there are current Iwai, Iwami-cho and an opinion to do and an opinion to assume Machishin well. In addition, it is considered that 山埼駅 listed in "an Engi era type", the 佐尉 (it blooms) station were put in our county.

The changing of a name of the county name and a change of the county area were accomplished before (1633) for at least Kanei era ten years, and Sho Hattori (existing Tottori-shi Fukube-cho) was admitted. The county name was changed from Ishii in (1701) for Genroku era 14 years to Iwai.

History after the early modern times
- As of the Meiji early years, the whole area was almost Inaba Tottori feudal clan territory. The villages listed in "a former high former territory investigation book" are as follows. ●Temple-owned land exists in は village. (51 villages)

- Great Tanimura (existing Oda, Iwami-cho) renames it and becomes the Oda Otani village.
- It becomes the jurisdiction of Tottori by - establishment of prefectures in place of feudal domains (August 29, 1871) on July 14, 1871.
- It becomes the jurisdiction of Shimane by - second prefectures unification (1876) on August 21 in 1876.
- The Iwai county as the jurisdiction starts by the enforcement in Shimane of the - township municipalities organization method (1879) on January 12 in 1879. "邑美法美岩井郡役所" is installed in 邑美郡鳥取町 and is had jurisdiction over the county with a law beauty county.
- It becomes the jurisdiction of - Tottori (1881) on September 12 in 1881.
- Each following villages start by the enforcement of - municipality organization (1889) on October 1 in 1889. The whole area is existing Iwami-cho, Iwami-gun other than special mention. (14 villages)
