Origin
It was written down with Beaufort[9] in De Bella fago[7], Beeafoa [8], 1648 in De Beaufon[6], 1533 in Beaufoul[5], the 14th century in Beafay[4], 1370 in De Bello fago[3], 1337 in 1104.
I come from hêtre where fou means a copper beech. Beaufou was derived from old French beau fou (beautiful beech).
