Life

Lace Teru was born as the eighth child of Jan ヴィレムスツ of the clothing supplier in a local brewer in Haarlem [1]. The details that she trained herself as a painter are uncertain. A description of lace Teru appearing in the book which I wrote of poet アムプツィング is famous.

"A happy couple," it is Louvre storehouse for 1,630 years

"A man singing a serenade," it is Amsterdam National Gallery storehouse for 1,629 years

Lace Teru was apprenticed under w:Frans Pietersz de Grebber which played an active part in Haarlem. [2]She became the member of the St. Luke association of Haarlem in 1633. There were only two women in the association. During two years when she was in the association, she looked after three male probationers. I accused it publicly before Frans Hals did lace Teru and did it according to the record on 3rd saying that I was going to pull up the one of her pupil. Mother of the pupil paid half 4 guilders of the forehead which lace Teru demanded compensation for damages from. Hulce handled responsibility as soon as a pupil came back by paying a fine of 3 guilders. Lace Teru was to have done well to save it that I did not let the pupil who belonged to the association register as a pupil of Hulce.

In 1636, lace Teru was talented by the same profession a little and got married with Jan ミーンセ モレナール which was many products. Expecting an income rising than Haarlem, the married couple moved to Amsterdam that had the art market which did it very well. Two people lived there for 11 years. Five children were born of a married couple, but it was only two to have come of age. A married couple moved to ヘームステーデ (city of the State of current North Holland), and lace Teru died at 50 years old soon in 1660.

The period when lace Teru was active substantially is until 1629 through 1635 of a period and the same period before having a child. It is only two points to be known for the work which I created after 1635. It is one point of portrait which I drew from thing, 1652 when I drew two points of cuts in the book about the tulip from 1643.

Because I was respected by painters of the same period, it was well known, but, during the life, as for the work, most were forgotten after the death with lace Teru. It was 1893 that lace Teru was rediscovered. Actually, the thing which Louvre purchased as Frans Hals work was drawn by Jehudit lace Teru. A merchant changed the monogram of the signature that lace Teru wrote. Although I changed a little in last several years, an art historiographer was an apple-polisher of Hulce till then or has forgotten her as imitation.

Lace Teru and Frans Hals

The relations with Hulce as the professional painter of lace Teru do not become clear. She seemed to be his disciple or close friend. Lace Teru is present at baptism of the daughter Maria of Hulce born in the early 1630s. The record of the attendant full name called the Jehudit Jan's remained, but there was a person of the having exactly the same name called the Jehudit Jan's in Haarlem. As for the evidence that lace Teru trained himself/herself by the cause of Frans Hals, nothing is recorded even if work "cheerful drinker" (about 1629.now Amsterdam National Gallery storehouse) of lace Teru very strongly resembles closely with "cheerful drinker" (Amsterdam National Gallery storehouse) whom Hulce drew in 1628 from about 1627. Because the work of two people resembles closely, some historians insist that Hulce was a teacher of lace Teru.

Work

Lace Teru renovated an intrafamilial scene in particular. She creates the scene of the woman in the home generally, and such subject is the Netherlands until the 1650s; of the popularity there was not it. Most of other works resemble Hendrick Teru ブルッヘン which is カラヴァッジスティ from most, Hulce and Utrecht of the painter of the same period, ヘラルト fan truth Holst, Jan stean and others practically. With the work of these painters, there were many things which generally followed interest and the taste of the well off of the Netherlands middle class including the scene of a bar and other pleasure.
