Akiha Shinto shrine (あきばじんじゃ) is a Shinto shrine in Matsugaya, Taitou-ku, Tokyo.
History
The original name was called extinguishment of a fire company. I receive a big fire of the evening (1869) in 1869, and there is that Kanjiyo did sacred fire spiritual power birthing and nourishing all things Oga of the fire, 神水波能売神 of the water, three of them of 神埴山毘売神 of the soil by an Imperial command of the Emperor Meiji as 祀神 in the place of current JR Akihabara Station yard (Kandahanaokacho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) in (1870) in 1870, the following day by an opening.
Because an inferno often occurred, Akiba University honorific title of a Japanese god (Mount Akiha) of the mixture of Buddhism and Shintoism gathered faith in the town of Edo of the Edo era as God of the fire prevention (ひぶせ) widely, but, in originally this company, there are not Akiha size honorific title of a Japanese god and the direct relations (there are the historical materials that Tokyo prefecture made Akiba University honorific title of a Japanese god Kanjiyo, but, judging from social conditions at the time, is a false report clearly.) . However, the people whom Akiba University honorific title of a Japanese god misunderstood that it was done Kanjiyo called this company with "Akiba" "Akiba" and called neighboring firebreak spaces (vacant land) that were company area with "original (あきばのはら) of Akiha" "Akiha っ Hara" (あきばっぱら). "あきば" reads と in the original Akiba University honorific title of a Japanese god with a downtown area accent "in autumn".
Extinguishment of a fire company became Akiba Corporation gradually, and a rail line (current Tohoku Main Line) which Japan railroad built (1888) in 1888 was extended from current Ueno Station to Akihabara Station, and land of Hara of Akiha moved to the present location with what was disposed of. It was changed the name with Akiha Shrine in (1930) for the next 1,930 years.
