Erich Leinsdorf (Erich Leinsdorf from February 4, 1912 to September 11, 1993) is a leader naturalized in the United States later in an Austrian native place [1]. I changed the United States and Europe and, in command of a first-class orchestra and opera company, became famous for the biting personality with the high standard to find for a performance [2]. There are a book and the essay about the music, too.

Career

Leinsdorf was born in the Jewish family of Vienna and has begun to learn music from 5 years old in a local school. Father was an amateur pianist [3]. I learned cheironomy in モーツァルテウム of Salzburg and learned a cello and a piano afterwards in Vienna University, Vienna Kunitachi Music College [4].

I act as an assistant to Bruno Walter and Arturo Toscanini who were a well-known leader by Salzburg music festival from 1934 through 1937. I command an opera in Bologna, Italy in 1936. I command Valkyrie in an American metropolitan opera house in 1937 [3]. I am active afterwards in France, Italy [3].

In November, 1937, Leinsdorf went to the United States and got the position of the vice-leader in a metropolitan opera house of New York. He left the mother country, and it was about only several months later that Austria was occupied by Nazis Germany. I received support of Lyndon Johnson who was the member of the Upper House of the new face (and it is the later President), and Leinsdorf could stay in the United States and I got United States citizenship again in 1942 and was able to be naturalized in those days [1].

I act as a permanent leader in a metropolitan opera house of New York City from 1938 and win fame by interpretation of Richard Wagner among other things. Wagner whom, in particular, he commanded attracted attention for the metropolitan era. When アルトゥル ボダンツキー reached sudden death in 1939, as for Leinsdorf, it was the person in charge of the German thing repertory of the metropolitan opera house [5]; [1] [6].

I got the position of the Cleveland orchestra musical director by contract for three years in 1943, but there was hardly really the term in office. It is drafted for World War II by the U.S. forces, and this is because the contract was not updated. At the time when the musical director of the Cleveland orchestra shifted from Lorin Maazel to Christoph phone Dohnanyi from 1982 through 1984, Leinsdorf has commanded a concert several times by the orchestra. Leinsdorf was a "mediation position of the change of government" if I borrowed his words [6].

I acted as the musical director [5] of the New York Rochester Philharmonic orchestra orchestra from 1947 through 1955. However, the thing which I came across there is narrow-minded music understanding of the Rochester citizen, and it will let him despair. Of Leinsdorf "is the world's neatest, Rochester is dead-end; the word" (Rochester is the best disguised dead end in the world!) is famous. After having acted as a musical director of the new York City opera, I conclude a tie-up with a metropolitan opera company again during a short period [1]. I took office as a musical director of the famous Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1962. As for having often coated re in partnership with RCA record exclusively in Boston, but having trouble with a musician and a manager always [2].

The conduct of Leinsdorf is affected by the historic case more than once. On November 22, 1963, Leinsdorf stopped a performance during a performance of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and told audience about shocking news called the President Kennedy assassination in Dallas and spoke the resentment to a terrorist and the condolence to the President and showed a funeral march from the symphony third of Beethoven [7]. In addition, I play Mozart composition "requiem" by Kennedy memorial mass and it is become a CD now and is released.

I make a my guest appearance and, in 1967, was to command Israel Philharmonic orchestra orchestra, but return home for a Six-Day War outbreak in a hurry. It was returning home that I was upset so as to forget to take off a tuxedo. Concert in itself was fighting, but is held 代振 りをして a zoo bottle meter [8].

After denying the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1969, and having come off from all permanent post leaders, I made a my guest appearance to a metropolitan opera house and many orchestras including New York Philharmonic.

I make a my guest appearance, and Leinsdorf will command Iseult with Tristram in a metropolitan opera house in 1974, but the cancellation of the singer occurs successively concerning management aggravation and presents frank advice to a New York Times paper for it saying that James Levine of Rafael Kubelik and the top leader of the musical director was powerless in those days. There is the opinion that this affected the musical director resignation of Kubelik [9]: 138. Leinsdorf acts as guest appearance conduct in a metropolitan opera house, but his demand often gets into trouble strictly afterwards [9]: 194.

I act as the top leader of the Berlin broadcast symphony orchestra (existing: Berlin Germany symphony orchestra) from 1978 through 1980 [2].

The reminiscences (Cadenza: A Musical Career) were published in 1976. It is The Composer's Advocate. in 1981 I write A Radical Orthodoxy for Musicians [4].

In 1993, I died at 81 years old because of a cancer in Zurich, Switzerland.
