Summary

I am deployed in the Pacific sea forces of R.C.N. (MARPAC) and assume エスクィマルト base (English version) of British Columbia Vancouver Island that the name of a warship was derived from the home port. For Halifax grade, it is a warship placed on the Pacific side for the first time.

It is a main force of the anti-terrorism operation of R.C.N. in the Middle East, and I act as a part of the carrier battle group of U.S. Navy, and, after synchronized terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in the United States, the Halifax grade frigate including this warship does it. R.C.N. secures compatibility about U.S. Navy and a technical term, communications equipment, an operational procedure, and a war vessel of U.S. Navy making a pair by war vessel of all R.C.N. and a joint strategy are possible relatively easily.

For a war vessel of the same name of R.C.N., it is the third ship following Vancouver (HMCS Vancouver, K225) of flower grade Corbett placed on duty during Vancouver (Thornycroft S type destroyer) (English version) [1], World War II placed on duty in a war interphase [2].

Warship career

It was started work at Saint John shipyard (English version) of New Brunswick state Saint John on May 19, 1988 and was launched on July 8, 1989 and was placed on duty afterwards on August 23, 1993. In addition, it is early, and Toronto (HMCS Toronto, FFH 333) of the fourth warship is placed on duty than this warship of the second warship for approximately one month.

I performed on-the-spot inspections to prevent development, the confirmation of the unidentified ship, escape and the smuggling of the fugitive to the Arabian Sea to participate in Operation Apollo (English version) on October 29, 2001. I did not meet with a battle, but I discovered the Dow ship who drifted and, during a strategy, rescued it. Because the Dow ship drifted without food or drink for approximately one week, 45 passengers and crew suffered from dehydration, but reopened a voyage by an emergency measure, food and water, technical support provided by this warship. On May 28, 2002, I succeeded a duty to other warships and did 帰投.

In 2003, I visited Oregon. In addition, I visited Vancouver in commemoration of the placement on duty tenth anniversary.

I departed from エスクィマルト base to participate in Operation uni-Fido protector of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for the civil war in Libya (Operation Canadian military name mobile) for 2,011 years on July 10, 2011. In the case of the departure from a port, a small fire occurred in a boiler and I was detected immediately and was died down, but the departure from a port was one hour late [3]. This warship participated in Charlottetown (HMCS Charlottetown, FFH 339) and a change, the strategy of the warship which was attached for a patrol duty in a strategy sea area from March of the same type. On November 15, this warship shifted to Operation active Endeavour (English version) by the end of the Operation uni-Fido protector. I did 帰投 afterwards to the home port after having engaged in a strategy until January 10, 2012.

I was delivered to the Victoria shipyard of the sheath bread Malin corporation (English version) to take 18 months until May, 2014 on May 6, 2013, and I repaired middle life based on HCM/FELEX (Halifax Class modernisation programme / frigate life extension) plan and to modernize it. A new electronic system was introduced by this remodeling, and new order control system, compound radar, the second sentry radar, Sirius long distance infrared rays search pursuit system were added, and the communication system in the warship, an electronic warfare system were updated. The 兵装 system was updated, too, and the ボフォース 57mm gun was upgraded with Mk 3 by BAE systems. In addition, MASS which automatically released a countermeasure based on the information of the sensor as a self-protective system of the soft kill was equipped with [4]; [5].

In October, 2015, I participated in practice of U.S. Navy performed off California with Calgary (HMCS Calgary, FFH 335) of the warship of the same type, Victoria grade submarine シクティミ (HMCS Chicoutimi, SS 879) [6].

It was in a test bed of harpoon missile block II which was introduced to strengthen ability for ground attack of the book grade in April, 2016, and proof firing was performed [7]; [8].

It left the エスクィマルト base to participate in RimPac Exercise with Calgary of the warship of the same type, Kingston grade patrol Saskatoon (HMCS Saskatoon, MM 709) and Yellowknife (HMCS Yellowknife, MM 704) in June, 2016 [9].
