The United Nations peacekeeping operations that the first United Nations Angola inspection group (だいいちじこくさいれんごう Angola けんしょうだん UNITED NATIONS ANGOLA VERIFICATION MISSION I,UNAVEM I) unfolded in Angola. I inspected military withdrawal from Angola in Cuba and was established based on United Nations Security Council resolution 626 of December 20, 1988.
Summary
The civil war in Angola continued from 1975 and was continued, and this was war by proxy of the U.S. and Russia under the Cold War. It became the struggle of the 置 くた National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) to The Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and Nanbu who suppressed the capital at a base in the 1980s. Soviet Union or Cuba supported MPLA, and United States of America or South Africa supported UNITA via Namibia.
With relaxation of the Cold War, the east side will weaken participation in Angola, and, for a detente, the Angolan stationing Cuba forces will withdraw. Security Council resolution 626 was adopted on December 20, 1988 to inspect this withdrawal (the first), and a United Nations Angola inspection group (UNAVEM I) was established.
From military 70 personnel required and civilian staff of the support, I worked actually from January, 1989, and UNAVEM I started. It unfolds around capital Luanda, Angola. The Cuban military started withdrawal in January and completed withdrawal work in May, 1991. UNAVEM I inspects this and carries out a report in June, 1991.
UNAVEM I was succeeded in the second United Nations Angola inspection corps that would be established by United Nations Security Council resolution 696 of May 30, 1991 (UNAVEM II) to promote peace of Angola sequentially.
