History
Because a main shrine, documents were destroyed by fire by flames of war for (from 1558 to 1570) in the Eiroku era year, the history is not clear [2]. I tell when I began excavation of Hozukyo from God and a reason, the place of the Kuwata Shinto shrine which catches a river with the tenant of a rice field Shinto shrine, and is enshrined where 大山咋神 of the enshrined deity came for the reclamation of the Tanba district who was a lake from the Izumo district [2]. Because I received a hoeing ceremony of this reclamation start of construction, a company name came to be called "a tenant of a rice field" (I received it) [2]. It is known that the tradition about Kameoka Basin having been a lake remains in neighboring each place (I refer to "Kameoka Basin # lake tradition" in detail).
By the company biography the foundation called Wado two years (709 years) [1]. It is done comparing and drawing conclusions in [3], the "Engi era type" name of a god book that is in the middle of the Heian era in the Tanba country Kuwata county by "stone ear Shinto shrine" and idea Corporation of the company in the expression written down the name of the precinct of a Shinto shrine was called "Iwao". Although the reason is unclear, there are a company, the Matsuo Shinto shrine in the expression of the Kuwata county and the opinion to do in the same way [4]; [5].
I want to do 遷座 in destruction by fire ののちは, Miyanoue (existing Hotsu Hachiman shrine) by flames of war of the Eiroku era year [6]. I came back to the present location for (from 1624 to 1645) in the Kanei era year [6], but a divided divine spirit is enshrined now as Tonguu in Miyanoue.
Hozukyo was called "Ukita (I received it) 峡" in the early modern times, and Kuwata Shrine of the opposite bank named "tenant of a rice field Shrine" "Ukita Shrine" it with tenant of a rice field Shrine [3].
