Life
I am born (1599) in Fushimi on February 18 for Keicho era four years. When Hideaki Kobayakawa who possessed the Okayama feudal clan was performed attainting of by 無嗣断絶 to act as a grandchild outside Ieyasu Tokugawa, I was enfeoffed as Bizen Okayama 28 Mangoku at only 5 years old in (1603) for Keicho era eight years. However, Tadatsugu of the early childhood could not manage state affairs, and Toshitaka of 異母兄 entered Okayama-jo Castle as acting administrator, and Tadatsugu stayed in Himeji-jo Castle of father.
I entered the first country at 16 years old after (1614), death of father for Keicho era 19 years, and, among 遺領 of father, west 10, Harima Mangoku of the face paint of mother, 良正院 was distributed and possessed 38 Mangoku in total. And I participated in the war with Toshitaka of the older brother as Tokugawa at the camp of the Osaka winter, but I became sick in 帰城後 and died in Okayama-jo Castle in (1615) for Keicho era 20 years, the following day. Age at death 17. I got engaged to a daughter of Tadamasa Mori, but there was not a heiress, and Tadao of the of the same mother younger brother succeeded you because I died before the marriage. In addition, the system of Tadatsugu brothers became the change seal at the time of 嫡男, light relation between Tadao in the Inaba country Tottori feudal clan and continued until the late Tokugawa period.
There was the cemetery (joss house) in 清泰院, and a wooden statue and a mortuary tablet were enshrined, and the corpse was buried with a sitting cross-legged figure in a wooden casket under the joss house. In addition, Naka-ku, Okayama-shi, Okayama Kobashi had 清泰院 at first, but I moved to Urayasuhonmachi, Minami-ku, Okayama-shi for national highway bridge construction in (1964) in 1964, and the joss house moved with it here in (1978) in 1978, too. Okayama designation important cultural property.
Poison steamed bun scandal
The following legends remain for the too young death of Tadatsugu.
I poisoned a steamed bun and was going to recommend assassination of Toshitaka who was the Himeji lord of a castle to Toshitaka in stepchilds that mother, 督姫 of Tadatsugu made Tadatsugu who was a child the Himeji lord of a castle when Toshitaka met Tadatsugu in plan, Okayama-jo Castle. Because a maid wrote in the palm, "I get out", Toshitaka did not attach a handle, but Tadatsugu who sensed this snatched a poisoned steamed bun of Toshitaka and ate and died. It is said that I protected Toshitaka of the lawful wife in the oldest brothers from experience in this way. In addition, it is said that I am ashamed of this, and 督姫 eats a poisoned steamed bun and died [3].
Tadatsugu dies according to the said article for a historical fact (1615) in Okayama-jo Castle on February 23 for Keicho era 20 years, and 督姫 dies in Himeji-jo Castle on February 5, the same year and is buried in Kyoto, Chion-in Temple. In addition, in the case of the move of Tadatsugu shrine, excavation was carried out in (1978) in 1978, and the investigation of the corpse was performed for poisonous death scandal inspection on this occasion. The result did not provide the conclusive evidence of the poison death. Therefore, this poison steamed bun scandal is not over a legendary level.
