Wiiリモコンにバトルパスをセーブし、他のデータでロードすると、そのセーブしたパスがフレンドパスとして追加される。ただし、同じデータからすでにパスをもらっていたら、古いパスは削除されて新しい方が保存される。
Wi-Fiバトルでも対戦後に交換が可能。「ともだちとバトル」では自動的にフレンドパスが交換されるが、「だれかとバトル」では、お互いが同意する必要がある。
フレンドパスが20、40、60枚になると、新しいオリジナルパスの柄がもらえる。

北米の人とWi-Fiバトルをして、フレンドパスの交換に成立すると、 北米版のみしか入手できない幻のバトルパスの柄を持つフレンドパスを入手できる場合がある。 ただし、オリジナルパスとしては使用できない。 また、北米版・欧州版にも発表されていないバトルパスの柄が複数存在する。

Wi-Fiバトル

ニンテンドーWi-Fiコネクションを用いて、全国のプレイヤーと対戦ができるモード。

だれかとバトル
対戦相手を募集し、みしらぬ誰かと対戦ができるモード。主なルールは以下のとおり。
  • レベルは50に統一。
  • ポケモン6匹を見せ合った上でシングル3匹/ダブル4匹を選択する。
  • 全国図鑑No1フシギダネ～No493アルセウスまで全てのポケモンが使用可能。ただし、ギラティナ（オリジンフォルム）・シェイミ（スカイフォルム）・フォルムチェンジしたロトムは使用不可能。
  • 同じポケモンを2体以上使用可能。
  • 2体以上のポケモンを「ねむり」「こおり」にできる。
  • 制限時間は60秒。
ともだちとバトル
フレンドリストに追加した人と対戦ができるモード。だれかとバトルとは違い、ある程度の対戦ルールは自分で決められる。
