It is just what Park Row (Park Row) runs in New York City downtown Manhattan. It was チャタム street once [1]. In addition, it was nicknamed news paper low (Newspaper Row) in the late 19th century. Most newspaper publishers of New York City are because they held the head office along this street to access the news at the New York city hall quickly [2]. This street runs in the northeast ー southwest diagonally, and the northwest edge is チャタム square, and the southwestern edge is the south side of the city hall park of the downtown.
Originally the New York Times launched it in a headquarters building located in 113 Nassau street (en) in 1851. I moved to 138 Nassau streets in 1854 and moved to 41 Park Row (en) of 1 block north more in 1858. Probably, in the building built at this time, it was in company Building owned construction for the first time by a newspaper publisher of New York City [3]. For the same period, New Yorker Staats-Zeitung moves 17 チャタム street (en) as company Building [4].
This plot of Park Row came to be known as 'printing house square' (Printing House Square). Benjamin Franklin image is built now in front of a building of 41 Park Row of one pace plaza (en) and pace university (en) of this square. Pennsylvania Gazette which was a well-known newspaper is grasped in his hand in those days, and the history that Park Row was ever news paper low is reflected.
I was person that it was important as the road where eastern post road (en) connected New York City and Albany, New England in the late 18th century. The most of the part which went along Manhattan of this road in the early 19th century have been lost by urban development. It was the world's most expensive high-rise building until singer Building could blunder at 391 feet in height (119m) from 1899 through 1908. At 29 stories, the 26th floor of those becomes the structure having two 3-story arches in a normal floor. The side that the storefront is length 103 ft along Park Row (31m) is 48 feet along (en) 23 feet (7.0m), theater array (en) along Ann street (15m). The land occupation area of the building is approximately 15,000 square feet (1,400 m²).
The New York City Police headquarters is located in 1 opposite police plaza (en) of Manhattan ミュニシパル building and metropolitan correction center (en) along Park Row [5]. As of 2013 from Frankfort street (en) of Park Row the section of the チャタム square except MTA bus and the government and the emergency vehicle may not pass it.
The north end of Park Row is Bowery, yeast Broadway (en), cent James place (en), Oliver street (en), motte street (en), a junction of Worth street (en), and the south end is Broadway, ヴェセイ street (en), Burk lei street (en), a junction of Ann street (en).
