Place of residence

The southern part of キゴマ in the Lake Tanganyika east bank of Tanzania quite lives in 20000km2. In the place where the hit is rare in Africa, and has low population density, only approximately seven people per 10km2 live.

Because of highlands from approximately 770m above see level (in the surface of a lake of Lake Tanganyika 768m) to 2,000m, it becomes the nature of the locality that is coolness. Leguminous 広葉落木 "ミオンボ" (Swahili) grows mainly. Even if the height is high, 20m, distance of the trees are around 3-5m and are not the quantity like the forest.

The annual rainfall of this ground is around 1,000mm from 750mm. The mean temperature is 23 degrees, and this hardly has a change through one year. Is divided in rainy season and the dry season; in the rainy season such as the squall it rains.

The leveling of ground method by the slash-and-burn agriculture becomes more intensive, and a tendency to become the plantation of the crops for monocrop agriculture is recognized when it becomes the wet savanna apart from a tropical rain forest. In the case of a トングェ group, I divide it into corn, kidney beans, slash-and-burn agriculture that interplant does pumpkins and uses for 1-2 years and a field that interplant does a cassava and a sweet potato to a furrow and uses for 5-10 years.

Life

I live by making one village with about 5-10 family. Because there are few human numbers, it is not unusual to suffer on foot to the neighboring village on full 1st.

The family uses the tree for a pillar, and the roof is thatching. By 1 family lives in one house, but because they constitute a village between relatives, they work, and adults help each other, and children play together.

A field work is work of the women, and the man catches an animal and takes the honey. All the men have one's gun (muzzle-loader), but make the materials with all handicraft using a pipe and the parts of the car which I laid in stock of in キゴマ well. But I use a trap together and take the game partly because it is not efficient. When animals are not readily produced, the people ask an apparition of a living person and ancestors ghost for the help.

About food consumption, the トングェ group tends to average it. It has it pointed out food always flows between each village, and to average so that it is said that approximately 40% of all food consumptions are offered to the visitor though I have no the amount of production of the individual to spare and is considered one adaptation style for this to maintain society of the low population density in poor production environment.

The metal thing does not lay a hoe and Ono and a pan and a bucket with the tool in the house, and the most of the life tool get it ready with a thing of nature.
