Fuji 500km

The car race that Fuji 500km (500 kilometers of wisteria) is performed every year in Fuji Speedway for (Golden Week) in the beginning of May. It becomes one of the series wars of SUPER GT now.

Summary

What was held as a Fuji Grand champion race third war in August, 1971 becomes the beginning. After that it is hosted by MSCC (Mazda sportscar club) in 1974 and is held. I came to be started in 1977 for one of the Fuji long distance series (Fuji LD) every year. Various vehicle categories including sports prototype car and the touring car participate in the war and greet the times of group C from 1983. I came to be started in 1985 for one of the all-Japan durability championship (later JSPC) and became the international formality. The sponsor became MSCC (the cosponsorship of VICIC) again from the FISCO club, too. However, MSCC holding event was a 1,000km race for 1,992 years, too (Fuji 1,000km was held to this age twice), and Fuji 500km was not held. I stop it by collapse, economic recession of JSPC for a while after 1993, the following day. I was incorporated as an event of the all-Japan GT championship from 2001, and Fuji 500km revived. It is succeeded now to SUPER GT of the succession.
