The car race that Fuji 500km (500 kilometers of wisteria) is performed every year in Fuji Speedway for (Golden Week) in the beginning of May. It becomes one of the series wars of SUPER GT now.

Summary
What was held as a Fuji Grand champion race third war in August, 1971 becomes the beginning. After that it is hosted by MSCC (Mazda sportscar club) in 1974 and is held. I came to be started in 1977 for one of the Fuji long distance series (Fuji LD) every year. Various vehicle categories including sports prototype car and the touring car participate in the war and greet the times of group C from 1983. I came to be started in 1985 for one of the all-Japan durability championship (later JSPC) and became the international formality. The sponsor became MSCC (the cosponsorship of VICIC) again from the FISCO club, too. However, MSCC holding event was a 1,000km race for 1,992 years, too (Fuji 1,000km was held to this age twice), and Fuji 500km was not held. I stop it by collapse, economic recession of JSPC for a while after 1993, the following day. I was incorporated as an event of the all-Japan GT championship from 2001, and Fuji 500km revived. It is succeeded now to SUPER GT of the succession. (but the race distance was shortened to 400km under the influence of economic recession, the Great East Japan Earthquake from 2009 through 2011, and the 500km race revives from 2012)
In addition, because it was doubleheader with the GC which became the postponement under the influence of a rainy day, 500 miles of held Fuji was shortened to 500km in November for 1,982 years, and Fuji 500km was held twice in this year. In addition, international event of the touring car race, inter-TEC were held as a 500km race from 1987 through 1993, too.
It was a long scene race of series one before the Suzuka 1,000km series was unified. Unlike Suzuka 1,000km, the driver is two principles, but teams adopting 2 stops system by problems such as an abrasion degree, the mileage of the tire are often found (they make it mandatory in 2009). Some teams of GT300 had the team which adopted 1 stop system. In GT500 in 2008 of Tetsu Motoyama and the Class of the 23rd car ブノワ トレルイエ [because ザナヴィ ニスモ Nissan GT-R had a weight handicap of 115 kg and special performance adjustment of 80 kg, and did not do it with rivals directly, the scene to adopt 1 stop system by the choice of a low mileage run, the hardware tire was seen.
