Doun Ikenaga

Doun Ikenaga (いけながどううん, Enpo era two years (1674) - Genbun July 19, 2 (1737)) is a calligrapher, a seal engraver of the middle of Edo era. I became a pioneer of the Japanese writer stippling with Koshu Sakakibara, Kotaku Hosoi.

The name Hideharu, a character way cloud, 号 other than one peak a mere citizen with solitary town life, the clouds below a mountain summit moon in the water master. A popular name existence gate-guard office. A person of Edo.

Short biography

The ancestors appeared in Edo in a powerful clan of Sagami country Odawara in the Bunroku year and sold drugs and made living. The work became before long and became a wealthy chemist. The way cloud is born in Edo Ningyocho as a heiress of this apothecary. I liked study since I was young and made a book better and studied under Koshu Sakakibara. In addition, Kotaku Hosoi becomes a teacher friend and crosses most familiarly. The stippling does 私淑 in 黄道謙. I grew and won fame as a calligrapher, a seal engraver.

I let family precepts protect it, and they bloom without neglecting the business and leave it to 道習 (sect gate-guard office) of the eldest child. I devote myself to 文房清玩 after a retired person and do calligraphy, stippling if I become interested and live a life of the comfortable retirement to play a biwa if I get tired.

I studied a seal character than anyone else more deeply. I write the book which is 浩瀚 of 18 kinds of more than 50 winding including "篆海 "・" 篆髄 "・" three 1,000 characters sentence". When "cutting down with one stroke of the sword various forms" are published, 清国人 does not spare praise, and it is said that I heard the fame abroad among other things. The celebrities at the time gathered at the door front to buy this book competitively, but decline it saying "I am divided only into a friend, an acquaintance because there are only 100 copies". It was an answer same for a messenger of 権大納言藤原俊清, the Councilor Takeru Sugawara justice, but it amounted if I heard it when I went up it and put it in 装帙 saying, "it was serious honor" and handed this book to soul former ex-emperor and House of marvelous law of Buddha monk prince. The ex-emperor was pleased with very much, and incense products were granted later. I met a relative, an old friend when I sympathized with own death and I took a bath and told it saying "I am going to right do a layoff in the Mt. way". Then it is said that I died with 浩然 after I play two pieces of Heike with a biwa and order own funeral service to the family, and 撰 did a gravestone. I was buried in the House for the reputation of the Asakusa vow temple tower head, but, in 1927, it was done transferring a body from a temporary shrine to a tomb with the move of House for the reputation by 11 Mt. Tajima temples of Nerima-ku, Tokyo. A pupil needs Tatsu Katsuma water.
