A crow tail mountain pass (crow mountain pass) is a mountain pass in the borders of Iizuka-shi, Fukuoka and Itoda-machi, Tagawa-gun. I am called "a crow mountain pass" commonly.

National highway No. 201 goes and is used to go back and forth in Tagawa-shi and Iizuka-shi. A curve is many mountain passes, but there is much traffic of the large car, too. A section around the mountain pass is consecutive precipitation 200mm or more, and traffic regulation is taken. This mountain pass was a border of Chikuzen country and the Buzen country and was the border of the same Kuroda feudal clan and Ogura feudal clan in the Edo era. I am attacked at this mountain pass by a bandit probably because the government official was hard to keep an eye, and it is said that I was said to be "bandit Pass" from the Edo era when there should have been many travelers who lost their life. A border stone is left in a shop and the north side of National highway No. 201 now.

When coal mine business was prosperous in Chikuho coalfield, I played role that was important as the way which bound Tagawa which led Chikuho district's greatest city, Iizuka and many coal mines together until the around 1960s after the Meiji era. The scene that the people who lived in the coal mining region surpassed at the time is drawn on the novel "gates of the youth" of Hiroyuki Itsuki, and the name appears in the lyrics of the song "song of Orie" of Yamasaki ハコ which took the subject in "the gate of the youth" as "crow Pass".

The traffic quantity of the mountain pass half decreased below by the Chikuho crow tail tunnel of the Shonai, Iizuka Tagawa bypass which went through the most one can do in the south side of this mountain pass (2009) on March 22 in 2009 being inaugurated, and the time required between Fukuoka - Tagawa having been shortened for approximately ten minutes.
