History

Prehistory

Proctor valley of Chula Vista

The local natural history called Chula Vista can sail up both the land and the sea through a prehistory fossil until millions of years ago. I show that the human lived at least 10,000 years ago in the archeological evidence. The people who spoke you man word in about B.C. 3000 entered this area. Many American Indians who are in the San Diego area are descendants of the Kume yeah E family which walked around this neighborhood for several thousand years now.

ヌエバエスパーニャ and Alta California

Three small fleets which fan Rodrigues カブリリョ led in 1542 were in the San Diego Port. In 1795, Chula Vista became a part of the Spanish land patent called ランチョ Del Rey namely "a ranch of the king". When Mexico formed the original government in 1831, ランチョ Del Rey came to be called ランチョ デ la pear on namely "the ranch of the country". This ranch spread out in current National city, Chula Vista, ボニータ, Sunnyside and the area called the sweet water valley. The ランチョ デ la pear on was used as the land where a Spaniard let a cow and a horse graze grass until 1845, and use was recognized afterwards by John (Don fan), Foster who was a brother-in-law of the Governor Mexican ピオ pico.

19th century United States

The United States of America insisted on possession of California after American-Mexican War in 1847. After California became the state in 1850, the land patent continued being accepted for personal assets under the American law.

After having run a ranch for ten years, Foster sold it to French land developer. This land was sold to Kyn ball brothers for 30,000 dollars for the next 1,868 years. The Kyn ball brothers of Frank, Warren and Lewi intended to develop this land in the American productive city and farm. The Frank Kyn ball was a person in charge who pulled that place loss トピカ and Santa Fe Railroad to San Diego, and the first terminal became the National city.

Several officers of the Santa Fe Railroad and city planner W G Dickerson colonel formed San Diego land, neighborhood company. This company started the land development of "the state-run ranch" for a new pioneer. I published the documents for the advertisement to attract a pioneer, and it was written in it, "the way which the small divided land of 5,000 acres (20 km2) into 5 acres (20,000m2) as the best part of this land, and avenue and just what of 80 feet in width (24m) bi-directionally ran, and the steam engine went along was central, and there is this land to distance of just 1 mile (1.6km) from Chula Vista and the National city which called it, and prospered". I instigated a boom of the 1880s by this advertising.

The land of this 5 acres was sold for 300 dollars (740 dollars per 1 hectare) per 1 acre in 1,887 years. It was demanded that the buyer built a house in the division during six months. A house came to be built in 1889, and the sale of the land was brisk. The town of Chula Vista was founded in this way. James D Schuyler of inhabitants suggested Chula Vista to the name of the town, and San Diego land, neighborhood company adopted it. I can translate it as "a beautiful view" in Spanish with Chula Vista.

Suite water river dam, about 1907

In 1888, the dam of the sweet water river was completed and brought water with a resident of Chula Vista on farmland. The Frank Kyn ball became the agriculture commissioner of the state and found citrus fruits being correct most as the crops in this area. Chula Vista became the maximum lemon estate in the world at the time.

The railroad which linked San Diego, National city, Chula Vista and オタイー was built. This railroad called the National city and オタイー railroad bloomed for many years.

20th century

A referendum to spread municipal organization in Chula Vista on October 17, 1911 was held, and inhabitants voted. California approved the admission method in November. Chula Vista caput elected you in the office of the people ステイト bank and picked E T Smith to the chairperson.

Local farmers continued cooking a lemon as the main product and used the packing place more than eight places of cities. However, I suffered big damage by the bad weather that lasted several years. A drought attacked it in frost damage, 1914 and 1915 when they were strict with 1913, and the crops gave damage. ローワーオタイー dam collapsed by the flood of 1916 and was drained water off millions of liters of Wednesday during two and a half hours. The orbit of the railroad near second Avenue was strolled around, and 23 houses were destroyed completely and started higher than 20 dead people.

In February, 1916, Hercules gunpowder company began a design and the construction of the kombu processing factory on the land of 30 acres (12ha) of Chula Vista. The kombu was the ideal materials resource which was usable for the production of explosives. This factory produced potassium carbonate and acetone and made smokeless gunpowder, and it was used widely by British troops of World War I. Hercules produced 46 million pounds of smokeless gunpowder (21 million kg) for British Government during the war and I harvested maximum kombu in the world at the time and made a fleet. There was this factory in the place called the cancer powder point now. Chula Vista nature center exists now.

The world financial crisis had a big influence on Chula Vista, but the agriculture brought inhabitants a moderate income. In 1931, in the lemon garden, 1 million dollars, the celery farm raised sales of 600,000 dollars.

World War II gave a change to influence the Chula Vista city forever. It was that a roll plane company moved to Chula Vista as the big factor early in 1941 several months before the Pearl Harbor attack. The roll employed 9,000 local workers in the best of the production in the wartime. House demand increases, and there was not the thing that the orchard switched once returns to an original figure. Two districts that satisfied house demand in the wartime are places with Chula Vista shopping center and Hill Top Junior High School and the fire department now. The population of Chula Vista of 1950 became 16,000 people more than 3 times from 5,000 people of 1940 after the war.

World War II post

After the war many factory workers and several thousand service industry employees stayed in an area and led to big population growth. I was established to offer it for one of the inhabitants whom many schools, houses, banks, restaurants, service stations and a shopping center matured into in this time. When Chula Vista became the largest community in the San Diego urban area, a tree and the production farm of the last citrus fruits disappeared.

District in eastern Chula Vista

It is South Bay of San Diego in Chula Vista, and there is the onstage playhouse which is the only live theater.

I let a comedy group called the Possum performed a new work entitled "Chula Vista" in 1974 and make a hit. This talked about "トワンガー of the magic" which "the magician of the Gypsy" purchased on the way to Chula Vista through "harbor drive, highway Route 5 from ラホヤ, San Diego". It was played at "doctor デメント show" many times and was heard in the whole San Diego county in radio show "Hudson and Bauer" (Mac Hudson and Joe Bauer appear) in AM radio KFBM of San Diego of the 1970s.

Owner of famous Argentine steakhouse "PAMPA'S BAR AND GRILL", Marco Hidalgo brought Argentine local cooking in San Diego. This restaurant is commended as a best steakhouse of San Diego and is known as one of the most successful racial place.

As other highlight and events, there are Chula Vista nature center, a J street harbor, third Avenue village, Olympics center and the soak city of the knot. In the Chula Vista center of commerce, there are much culture events including famous lemon festival, a starlight parade and the Chula Vista rose festival.

Future of Chula Vista City

In future dozens of years, Chula Vista continues spreading out in us. There are various plans of East Lake, ランチョ Del Rey and the housing estate including the オタイー lunch district. In 2003, Chula Vista became the city of the second place in a population of 200,000 personality, the San Diego county. This city will struggle for an attractive district and the balance of the powerful business base as I continue growing up, but it is necessary to maintain the sense of the community when I was established and the value of the small town.

Chula Vista grows up at a fast pace by big development happening by the オタイー valley close to United States Olympics training ground and the オタイー lake reservoir. Many new houses are built in the オタイーランチ, Lomas bell death, ランチョ Del Rey, East Lake and オタイー mesa area. The toll road South Bay Ickx press way that is an extension part of California way Route 125 is inaugurated on November 19, 2007 and will tie expressway Route 805 and California way Route 905 between the states of the freeway in future with Route 54 and I bind it together closely with San Diego area and the area of the yeast county and will lay the link with expressway Route 8 and California way Route 94 between states.

I considered the possibility of the new stadium construction that Chula Vista and a charge officer of San Diego Chargers of NFL met on May 30, 2006 and functioned as a stronghold of Chargers. However, in June, 2009, Chargers excluded Chula Vista from the site proposed for new stadium construction [5].

The San Diego area Airport station examined possibility to bring business aviation route to brown Field of the オタイー mesa from the Lindbergh field of San Diego. However, full-scale airway use understood that a mountain obstacled, and this plan came to a deadlock. In addition, I was judged because this airport was near Mexico when there might be diplomatic repulsion. However, the airport for two countries is examined with an airport for the freight and the airport of the TIFF hole, too.

In 2009, one of the most boring city included Chula Vista by Forbes magazine in the United States [6].
