渭水 (I am and am not crowded) is one of the branches of the Yellow River.

Position
渭水 assumes crow mouse Anayama in the west of 甘粛省渭源県 the source. I drift to the south of Shaanxi Xianyang City, the north of Xi'an City and join in Tongguan of the Yellow River midstream. 818km in total length. The basin of the basin is called 渭河平原 (in Seki).
A name called "渭河" (a burr, a 拼 sound: ) is more common than "渭水" in modern China.
There is 灃 water (I breathe one 灃 river) that Bai Juyi parted from former 稹 in the branch.
History
In the ground in Seki, many dynasties established the capital Amane Nishi here from ancient times including long Anjo (ridges on the blade Kyoto, Xi'an) of former Han, Tang, Hata Xianyang castle. With it, 渭水 was used for transport and carried active traffic with the eastern capital capital and transportation of the food from the south on Tang charges in particular.
A trouble began to appear for transportation by the flooding of the Yellow River later, and the country capital moved to the China east side when marine transportation became mainstream than land transport again with the times, and the role of 渭水 largely decreased.
