Garve river (Garve がわ, department of me River) is a river flowing through the central city area of Naha-shi, Okinawa. A lot of parts becoming the culvert may be treated administratively as public sewer rainwater facilities (drainage) not a river.

Geography
I utter it near 1, Nagata, Naha-shi and drift to the west. I enter the combined shrine (character combined shrine) and change the direction through a culvert of approximately 100 meters in length northwest. I get along with each other and pass through Kokusai Dori Street at a bridge intersection and drift to the 沖映通 りの bottom as a culvert. I change the flow to the west at 1, Makishi (in front of JUNKUDO) and come to the ground and join the Kumoji River in 十貫瀬橋付近.
History
The shallow sea opened, and it was in an inlet to ship Masuhara (the neighborhood of Okegawa), but, in the northwestern part of Naha-shi, making it it ever went ahead through the land to the Garve lower part of a river style part after the dike called the long rainbow bank was made in 1451 [1]. Because it was a damp area, in the down stream part, it was named Garve River than "a garfish boo" to mean damp ground by local words up to the early days of the Showa era.
A mall was formed in revival after World War II along the river close to Kokusai Dori Street, and a store (water store) was made on the top of the river before long. Because it was in a situation that inundation damage occurs whenever becoming it goes ahead through the neighboring city areas, and large rain falls, large-scale repair work will be performed as part of Naha-shi urban redevelopment business. The contents of the repair dug into a riverbed 2.9 meters and installed a culvert made of 729 meters of total extension, steel reinforced concrete of 4.5 meters in height. However, originally it was the soft ground, and there was little room of the construction site in both sides of the river in a house crowd place, and the difficulty construction including the eviction problem of torrential rain in the summer and the existing store was expected, and there was a defect for the plan that the Ryukyu Islands American nation government showed, and it was the situation that a construction supplier was not fixed at though I repeated the bid of four times. South Seas construction of public works finally accepted an order by free contract and started work on August 28, 1962. A crane fell down on the way, and neighboring private houses inclined and it was difficulty construction, but was completed in March, 1965 [2].
On the other hand, Naha-shi sewer business basic plan was drawn up in 1963, and neighboring sewer construction was begun in July, 1965 [3]. The sewer is installed in the distant circle in form along the Garve River under neighboring roads [4]. However, we have the damage that 55 are flooded by a heavy rain in March (1983) in 1983 [5], and the accident that a flash flood occurs, and four die of torrential rain (2009) in August in 2009 occurs.
Quality of the water
The Garve River has little flow quantity of nature; of the basin it is almost one of the river which is the dirtiest in Okinawa because the whole area is Naha city area, and life drainage flows in [6]. The quality of the water is improved by the spread of sewers in the basin.
