Summary
A story to settle in a house more than 17 years while the strange creature which I have not looked at getting into the certain family, and the ring of the meal increasing it, and walking around it in a house, and doing various mischief, and repeating an incomprehensible action.
As for とあるが, this, this product is done with the work which a goalee gave to Rooley about Alison Lurie () of the American woman writer who is the friend since the university of the goalee in the beginning by "Allison bishop" [1]. "The bishop" is the family name that I used at the time when Rooley was married [1]. Rooley tells whether it is comment to the decision that cannot understand this product for a goalee "to have a child" of Rooley in the in memoriam to a goalee. Because, about the real nature of this mystery creature which get in a family, and is not going to send it as for the family while repeating a lot of annoying actions, "there is it with It came seventeen years ago - and to this day It has shown no intention of going away. ([3] that there is no sign that disappear at all even if it is about 17 years ago that a guy saying Japanese translation :"-- came over, and continue up to the present day) in one sentence in this product last; "the child normally appears to all 17 of them soon in a house if it is……Because I conclude [4] and the interpretation about this product, and Rooley delivers it before "suspicious visitor" publication, Motoyuki Shibata in charge of Japanese translation shows the interpretation with the metaphor of the child in these creatures in the afterword of the Japanese edition [1], and I state with an example of the interpretation to the last and, not a thing pushed really one interpretation to, am various works which I can interpret, and Shibata does the interpretation with this "metaphor of the child" later again when the story in the dream and interpretation to do come like "the Little Match Girl" most nicely [5].
This product especially has high popularity between fans [1], and it is the most popular character [2], and, as for this mystery creature, the doll of this creature is produced in work group of the goalee in 1974, too. This is produced only in only 54 one with a thing of the height approximately 18 inches (approximately 46 centimeters), and a high price is posted among the enthusiasts very much [6]. For next 1,995 years, only 26 dolls of the slightly small size were produced more [6]. Furthermore, there is the photograph which a big doll appears in with a goalee, but it is advertising use, or this is seen with the own work of the goalee not a general sold thing [6].
Japanese translation
When they answered the bell on that wild winter night,
There was no one expected-and no one in sight.Japanese translation: Wind is strong, and there cannot be a visitor, too, and I sound, but the shadow of a person has no night rings of the winter
— I quote the first page of the story than 後掲 "suspicious visitor"
End rhyme is stepped on with the couplet of the short sentence about this product a lot of things which take the style of verses although the original which the goalee writes is simple [1]; [7]. "Night" (the night) and "sight" (site) of each end of a sentence rhyme by the above as an example [7]. Shibata extremely adopts a tanka as the thing which feature it, and knows it of the work of the goalee called the surrealism on the Japanese translation of this unique expression while observing the-style of the picture story for classic boys [1]; [7]. In the production of the Japanese translated sentence of this tanka form, there was cooperation of Shion Mizuhara who was a Japanese poet.
In addition, with the process that "Doubtful" in the original title usually meant を which "was suspicious uncertainty", but was adopted by a title because there was me because meant を which "was strange" with this product without there being the expression called "a suspicious problem" by comics of Hisaichi Ishii before に coming to the end of, it which "were suspicious" after Shibata looked for "strange" の synonym, and knowing a meaning, and came to here, and understood a meaning [5]. 江國香織 of the writer recites this title in Japanese, "it is splendid" [5].
