バギズム (Bagism) is a word made with the part of many peace movements by John Lennon and Ono Yoko at the end of 1960s. A meaning to satirize prejudice and a fixed idea is put. In バギズム, a person enters bag (Bag) completely literally. A color, sex of the skin, length, clothes of the hair, information about the appearance including the age cannot distinguish it by living in a bag. When it was form of the complete communication, it was submitted. The person hearing a story of バギスト (Bagist) comes to listen to only the message without being seized with the appearance of the person.

A purpose and origin
It was a press conference in Vienna (Austria) on March 31, 1969 that John and Yoko showed an idea of バギズム. And, on June 14, 1969, it was illustrated by a talk with David Frost more concretely. バギズム reflects the peaceful activity of the comedy-like atmosphere with selfishness in their one of a kind represented by bed in. Because the strange view of the world attracted people's attention, バギズム was social and was sent to the world as a political strong message. John speaks it in this way. "Our improving in what Yoko and I expect that I become a world clown heartily and do so some."
Mr. and Mrs. Lennon do the performance using the bag before. It was event "The Alchemical Wedding[1]" which vanguard artists gathered in Royal Albert Hall of London at the end of 1968. This event was held by Arts Lab and BIT, and the audience was not a consumer of the passiveness, and the trial that became a participant was explored. John and Yoko sat cross-legged on a big bag of the black velvet on the stage and faced each other and bent the body and closed a bag. It only stooped itself more deeply twice that they moved for 45 minutes. This was a big challenge for the audiences.

Recent use example
In 2006, a letter of "Bagism, Shagism, Dragism, Madism, Ragism, Tagism" was given glory to to terminal building front glass of Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The lyrics of everywhere various John in the airport were treated then.
On August 18, 2008, road バギズム was demonstrated in a center (boldface street) of Liverpool for several hours by two local artists, and the performance of the noisy electric guitar and reading aloud of the poetry were performed. This was performed as an avant-garde accompaniment event ahead of バギズム event in View Two Gallery (Matthew street) performed on August 22, the same year in Beatles week.
