Summary
A soccer competition was performed by "an international student competition" and "international student sports week" and "a young man student athletic meet" held before the Universiade establishment, but world championships of the soccer by the student national team were performed in the independent form called "world University championship" once in two years without playing soccer in Universiade from the Universiade establishment and being played a game. However, I finally abolish a world student championship last in 1982 and completely shift to Universiade. It became the form succeeded to as the world championship of the soccer by the student national team to Universiade.
When Universiade Kobe meeting was decided in 1985 in November, 1981, Shunnichiro Okano who was Director of Football Association of Japan and Japanese Olympic Committee permanent post director asked Holst ダスラー (son of Adidas founder Adolf ダスラー) of the friend of Okano who had strong influence in the in those days world sportsdom which visited Japan from a thought, "the university soccer was important to Japan soccer" for help in those days to make soccer an official competition from Universiade Kanbe meeting. Then Holst ダスラー telephoned Primo Nebiolo of the international university sports league (FISU) chairperson who was also a friend of Okano who was in New York and passed it on to Okano. The nebbiolo FISU chairperson who consented to a request of Okano was objected to by the FISU executive committee first, but nebbiolo FISU chairperson revised an agreement forcibly and did soccer in an official competition from Universiade Kobe meeting [1]. The soccer becomes the official competition of the Universiade now afterward.
In addition, there was the meeting not to carry out a soccer competition, but is carried out in late years every meeting because I was considered to be the additional competition by the request of the host country concerning a world university championship.

Held method
A boy competition, a girl competition are similar methods together and are performed.
I divide 16 countries into four groups and perform the league match of the total hit, and eight countries of each group high rank two countries in total go into the second round. Eight countries which were not able to go into the second round perform a tie order from the first place to the 16th place to be decided, and order is decided; therefore the participation country must perform the number of the same games.
