Use
The following is a main use example of the sprinkler truck (purpose of the sprinkling).
- Cleaning of the road
- Maintenance such as roadside trees planted on the road
- Cleaning of the tunnel wall surface
- Restraint of the dust storm at the place (the construction spot or racetrack) that a dust storm is easy to produce
- Dispersion of the cryoprotectant
- Cooling of the facilities in ironworks
- Asphalt cooling in case of the paving work
The highway of the urban area is unpaved until the 30, Showa generation and might water it for prevention of dust storm on a road, but there is not many it too much now at an opportunity to see it by the improvement of the road pavement rate on a road.
Misunderstanding of the sprinkler truck by the road cleaning
The figure which a sprinkler truck waters in a pavement road including the national highway is seen well, but, as for this, almost none of is sprinkling for cleaning. Two cars cleaning a road surface with a car and a furnisher to water work pairwise, and a rotary brush wheel runs in the back of the sprinkler truck. In other words, even the rain waters it because it is sprinkling to prevent that a brush wheel raises up the garbage of the road surface as far as it is not a heavy rain. It is not a direct purpose to get a road surface wet, but is misunderstood with work for sprinkling in itself well.
Railroad carriage
Structure
The part equal to the guest room of the vehicle for the normal streetcar does not have the body, and a tank to pour water to water a substitute into gets on on the underframe. A cab is established in both sidecars edge.
Use
I ran early in the Showa era from last part of Meiji era, and a streetcar was built in the major cities of the all over Japan. A dust storm was generated in those days because the road which ran of the streetcar was not paved when a train ran. Because the sprinkler trucks of the car had not yet spread, during the schedule of the interval of the general train run, the sprinkler truck which ran while watering the neighboring roads was used.
Activity and end
The sprinkler truck was used a lot until the early days of the Showa era, but gradually decreased because sprinkling cars spread when I entered in the 10, Showa generation. There was the company which I used until postwar period, but disappeared totally (1955) by the time in 1955 because I added it to fuel circumstances improving for the better, and sprinkling cars having spread, and the pavement of the road advanced.
Hokkaido Railway Co. (Hokkaido Railway) holds a sprinkler truck for prevention of expansion of the rail in the summer, but stops use now in 2014 [1]. I held Kyushu Railway Co. (Kyushu Railway Company) by fall of ash measures of Kagoshima District, but it is scrapped in 2014 and does not exist.
In addition, Kagoshima City Transportation Bureau started use in 2010. For maintenance of the turf by the orbit tree planting business, I introduced it with a lawnmower and a set (but, like Kyushu Railway Company, it may be managed at the time of a fall of ash of Sakurajima).
Preservation car
A 25 sprinkler truck of the Osaka streetcar is stored to Osaka streetcar preservation building of Suminoe-ku, Osaka-shi.
Footnote
- I place an exclusive tank car in the sprinkling train use in a ^ Iwamizawa driving place and performed push-pull driving in DE15 of the Asahikawa driving place, but it is a car by the measures with the review of the maintenance of tracks use on a holiday. In addition, DE15 is placed in the Iwamizawa driving place for construction use and relief use temporarily only in the summer after 2014
