The Shigeru Inagaki light (いながきしげみつ) the senior retainer top seat (2000 stones) of the Echigo Nagaoka feudal clan. It is the family of the branch family of Toba, Shima feudal lord, Inagaki. 諱 in 茂光, the back Shigemitsu [1].

Late Tokugawa period
I am born in the Heisuke Inagakis of the senior retainer in the permanence that was Echigo Nagaoka feudal clan first-rate aristocratic family, noble family.
Because 父茂快 which I devoted to Manabu Mito died suddenly of 24 years old in Kyoto in (1842) for Tenpo era 13 years, I succeed to birthright. I gave Tsugunosuke Kawai who was a negotiator an important post, and 忠恭 let you gradually advance in the world at that time.
Tsugunosuke Kawai carried out affairs of a feudal clan reform as a senior retainer with the confidence of 忠恭 and, in the Heisuke Inagakis, was done 減知 to 500 stones for the averaging of the aristocratic family. Although post of senior retainer was not taken up, I was shelved (1868) in 1868 by President military science place and was excluded from affairs of a feudal clan virtually.
Hokuetsu district war and flight

I spent the rest of life in various slander, slander, but because I had big Kuwahata, after establishment of prefectures in place of feudal domains, I worked hard at cleaning, upbringing of this and was involved in the management of the trip basket again, but went bankrupt in so-called amateurish business style in a moment.
Shigemitsu has abundant knowledge for Western civilization, and Etsuko Sugimoto (Etsuko) of six girls goes to the United States at 24 years old for marriage. I became famous as the introducer of the Japanese culture and became a Columbian tutor as a Japanese for the first time in the United States. There is "the daughter of the samurai" in a most important work.
In "one hundred Nagaoka anything 2" (TV Niigata edition) "a coward samurai there is a chapter called * Heisuke Inagaki".

- I seem to be changing name that I hesitate to be 諱 and the same character of ^ 14th brigadier forces Ieshige Tokugawa. As for the changing name that is as for the changing name of 家茂 for Ansei five years (1858), this; it is very likely that just after that.
