Nitrating acid
The liquid which mixed strong sulfuric acid and concentrated nitric acid with the nitrating acid (こんさん British: mixed acid) at a volume ratio of 3:1. I am used for the nitration of aromatic compounds. I call even sulfuric acid and a combination except the nitric acid nitrating acid, but nitric acid refers to a mixture of the sulfuric acid integrally.
Reaction mechanism of the nitration
In nitrating acid, ニトロニウムイオン NO2+ of 1 molecule arises from nitric acid 1 molecules and 2 molecules sulfate.
- HNO3 + 2H2SO4 → NO2+ + 2HSO4- + H3O+
ニトロニウムイオン which occurred is very strong 求電子剤 and produces a nitro-compound in response to aromatic compounds.
