Nezu red light district
Nezu red light district (ねづゆうかく) is the red light district that was in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Nezu.
Summary
After Nezu Shrine foundation, the place was the unlicensed red-light district where street walkers gathered formerly (red light district of the non-official recognition). They were prohibited (Tenpo era 13 years) in 1842 by Reform of the Tempo Era by Tadakuni Mizuno and were moved to new Yoshiwara and got the permission of the Edo Shogunate military magistrate later in the Keio year, and a red light district was built and gradually propered and planted a cherry tree more than 200 stock on both sides of the Nezu multifold fences town in 1870 and they held an outer gate and imitated new Yoshiwara, but it was the red light district that originally they limited a term and admitted and was removed (1888) on the last day in June in 1888, and the authorities admitted this to the thing which continued business in Suzaki. Tokyo Imperial University is near and, in a move, is informed it even if I was brought into question in public morals by the government [1].
On July 1, 1888 of the next day, the red light district moved to Suzaki (existing Toyo, Koto-ku). The Suzaki red light district was at Suzaki 1, Bentencho, 2. The ground was land incorporated into the Fukagawa ward by landfill of May, 1887. In Tohoku, the west faced the reclaimed land across shallow 渠 of Article 1 for Nishihirai-cho across a river, and the south approached 永代浦. The site of the red light district was 50,000 tsubos.
