The hydrology (すいもんがく, English: hydrology) is a field for one minute of the earth science for water cycles on the earth and is mainly science to put the principal objective for the way, distribution, movement, the water income and expenditure of the water which is regional than the cyclic process, and to study water in the land.
As for the study, movement of the regional time distribution properties, evaporation, penetration, inland water and groundwater of the rainfall as the source of supply of the water plays a key role.

Definition
The definition of the hydrology is established as follows in 1964 equal to the start last year of the plan (International Hydrological Decade: IHD) for international hydrology ten years by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (the UNESCO), and this definition is accepted widely now.
Hydrology is the science which deals with the waters of the earth, their occurrence, circulation and distribution on the planet, their physical and chemical properties and their interactions with the physical and biological environment, including their responses to human activity. Hydrology is a field which covers the entire history of the cycle of water on the earth.[1]
The hydrology is science to treat interaction with the physical and biologic environment that I include the reaction to the human activities of they characteristic science to treat water of the earth, the outbreak, circulation, distribution, the physical and chemical characteristic again. In other words, the hydrology is a field covering all history of the hydrogical cycle on the earth [1].
Research field
Because it is important as aquatic resources, as for the water, as for the hydrology, a study is conducted only as an object of study in various fields such as science, engineering, the agriculture and has the side called the cross-sectional study domain. In the research field, there are each elementary process of the water cycle namely penetration, outflow [vagueness evasion required], evapotranspiration, groundwater flow, wetlands, thing for river channel outflows, thing handling the quality of the water in these each elementary process, thing for wider domain water cycles including the whole earth. In addition, there is the part dealing with the point of contact with the society.
Associated study includes erosion control studies in the agriculture, irrigation engineering, soil physics meteorology, limnology, limnology, riparian engineering, hydraulics in the engineering civil engineering in the science again. I may think the hydrology of the wide sense to be the general study domain that contained all such associated study.
