Car litter da
The car litter da is established in the freight train switchyard and is a facility to brake a rolling freight train from the side above the ground. There are a union type and a ダウティ type to brake by pushing a braking beam located along orbit to the side of the wheel by air pressure or oil pressure letting the flange of the wheel steps on an oil pressure pin installed inside of a rail and lowers it and slow down. I was called orbit freight train trigger by JIS E 3013 "Tetsudo Shingo preservation term" once.

Role
The freight train assorted in an HAMP yard is accelerated in a steep descent of the HAMP and rolls. The freight train continues running in inertia to an assortment line while gradually slowing down for the resistance of a wheel and the bearing, the resistance of the head wind. When acceleration by the HAMP is not enough than this resistance, the freight train is stranded in the middle of an assortment line and will spoil efficiency of 散転. Therefore the high HAMP was decided in a value so that a freight train rolled under the worst condition to assume to the assortment line. Therefore, freight trains made 散転 will usually have speed bigger than the speed that can connect it safely in an objective assortment line from HAMP.
In this situation a freight train made 散転 overruns the assortment line and crashes into the freight train which has been already accommodated by the assortment line. Therefore a yard work hook conducted the freight train which rolled before and let I operated brakes comprised on the freight train, and a freight train slow down. Car litter da is installed in the orbit which leaves from HAMP for the assortment line to mechanize the slowdown of the rolling freight train because this work is dangerous and is inefficient.
History
The car litter da has begun to be used in the United States of America in Germany in 1924 in 1918. It is a beginning that two engines examine the new Tsurumi switchyard in Japan in 1937 and were introduced.
I consisted of war damage for a use stop in 1945, and the thing installed in the new Tsurumi switchyard was removed afterwards. I stood on it, and a test result was installed in the new Tsurumi switchyard 16 an improved thing from 1949 through 1950. In Japan, car litter da spread in an HAMP yard of each place after this. The picking up speed and slowing down device of the linear motor method was adopted in 1970, too and was installed in the Toyama switchyard [1].
A ダウティ type remains in the Keiyo Rinkai Tetsudo Chiba freight station now in Japan.
