Summary

Norimoto Matsudaira who was the first generation of 大給松平家 might come as the first lord of a castle, but originally grandfather, Nobumitsu Matsudaira of 乗元 took the thing which local powerful clan Nagasaka new Court Security Office constructed as a house by storm and gave Chikatada Matsudaira who was father of 乗元 it. 乗元 and child Norimasa Matsudaira run for (Eisho era 3-7 years) for from 1507 to 1510, and it is said that I maintained the appearance as the castle.

The castle divides the saddlery of the figure of a mountain in Horikiri and has East-West 220m, a scale of north and south 280m. I arrange the gay quarters where I built a house for the south side in main Kuo (East-West 45m, north and south 20m) and vice-Kuo near the central mountaintop. It is to establish two gay quarters said to be "water ノ hand gay quarters" in the northern part of a castle surface that is characteristic in 大給城. This divides a valley line into a plural number at dikes and constitutes it as two gay quarters and plays a role as Mizubori and supply of water, both by letting each gay quarters flood by well water and rainwater. Among dikes nothing of 30m in width, 5m in height is large.

大給松平氏 often repeated rivalry with the neighboring Matsudaira clan, and 大給城 was abandoned when I received a surprise attack of the Takinowaki Matsudairas for (Tensho era three years) in 1575. And it became the abandoned castle because Ieyasu Tokugawa became 移封 in Kanto.

In addition, a grave of Norimoto Matsudaira is established at the east end of the ridge spreading out from 大給城.

Present conditions

I save it well as ruins of a castle park and am maintained, and the tour is easy. The signboards indicating territory figure and remains of an ancient structure are installed. In addition, on the road where a walk road to continue to the ruins of a castle originates, there is several parking space.
