艘別銭

艘別銭

One kind of the harbor toll (transit duty) imposed on a ship in a harbor of Japan with 艘別銭 (goes) in the Middle Ages.

I levied in coins every one. A name varies according to an area and the times. I was called 艘別銭 at Hyogo Tsu and Yodo Tsu of area near Kyoto, the House of beach, but, in Minato, Shinagawa and Minato, Kanagawa of Kanto, a name money (ほべつせん) according to the sail is used, and there is the example that the name eyes money (もくせん) was used for along with money according to 艘別銭 and the sail after the north and south morning service charges.

About the difference in name with other harbor tolls, there is the opinion which changes the measure rice from the ship transporting other junks to the rice from a ship transporting rice such as the land tax rice, and collected coins as money according to 艘別銭, the sail, but the conclusive evidence still less exists.
