Specialty
ケロー acquired physics master's degree in Geneva University in 1990 and acquired astronomy and an astrophysical degree in 1992.
He finished writing article "Research by cross-correlation techniques" under the instruction of Michel Maillol at Geneva astronomical observatory and acquired a doctorate afterwards in 1995.
Achievements
The group of Michel Maillol measured the drift of the Pegasus 51st star by the gravity of the planet by the change of the wavelength by the Doppler effect in those days in 1995. Means to perform direct observation (image photography) of an extrasolar planet in that time is from that there was not [1].
ケロー registered at a doctoral course developed software under his instruction [1] and discovered the planet which had the revolution period for only 4.2 days in the analysis of observation data. This planet is named Pegasus 51st star b later; of the solar system it becomes clear to be similar to hot Jupiter without there being it, and being able to explain it from a state and a planet formation theory at the time at all [2].
Prize, privilege, decoration
- To asteroid "2004 CK3" (asteroid number 177415), his name "Queloz" is named [3].
- 2011 BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award
- 2013 Thompson Reuters quotation honor prize
- I cowined Wolf Prize physics section of 2017 with Michel Maillol by an achievement of the first discovery of the extrasolar planet which went around a fixed star [4]
