Tenri light railway

Tenri light railway

The Tenri light railway (てんりけいべんてつどう) is the railway company who ran a pike linking the Tanbaichicho, Yamabe-gun riverbank Castle (Tenri-shi) from Okidome, Horyuji-mura, Ikoma-gun, Nara (Japanese National Railways Horyu-ji Temple station square). It was built for the purpose of the passenger transportation of the Tenriism believer, but I am purchased with route extension of the Osaka Electric orbit, and, as for part of the route, it is Kintetsu Tenri Line now.

Route data

  • Route distance: 9.0km
  • Between the gauge: 762mm [1]
  • Double track section: Unavailable (whole line single line)
  • Electrification section: Unavailable (whole line non-electrification)
  • Power: Steam

History

Building and buildings such as called headquarters shrine and founder began in the Tenriism later in the Taisho era from spring of 1911, and believers came to leave for the Tenriism headquarters for the work work. As for the trip, the fare needed 51 sen to Tanba-shi Station (Tenri Station) via Nara Station from Minato-cho, Osaka for around two hours 30 minutes. Therefore there were many people who got off at Horyuji Station on the way, and went to the Tenriism headquarters on foot [2].

The laying license of the light railway which reaches the Tanbaichicho, Yamabe-gun riverbank castle (Tenri-shi) in prospect of the passenger transportation of the believer of such a Tenriism in front of Horyuji Station by the projection of nine Hisashi Sugimoto Saburo et al. [3] [4] on January 4, 1912 lower; was referred. And a foundation general meeting was held on November 27, and Tenri light railway Co., Ltd. (capital 250,000 yen) was established, and Sugimoto took office as a door tail good gate-guard office, a managing director to the president [5]. The construction was begun than the Horyu-ji Temple side in December, 1913, and I made a statement for a landowner opposite to sale of the land to the land expropriation examination committee, and there was the delay, but solved it. The topography was almost flat construction advanced smoothly, and the bridging of the Tomio River and the Saho River was completed on January 13, 1915, too and started transportation business from February 7.

It was a result at the time of the opening of business, but, as for the daily mean passenger volume, the 4.5 moon has fallen much below 467 people, June 188 and an aim [6]. The passenger volumes gradually increased, but the room for development was limited for a small railroad, and ことから, the outward trip to be seen in the getting off staff from a big difference with vehicle ridership of new Horyuji Station again [7] used Tenri light railway, and the return journey went to Nara from Tanba-shi Station [8], and it seemed to be said afterwards in Uehommachi, Osaka by Osaka electricity orbit [9] which did transfer, and went to Minato-cho, Osaka by Kansai Main Line, or was inaugurated in April, 1914. The door tail of the president retired from it in 1916 and continued doing business while receiving the government subsidy based on the light railway assistance method.

Furrow sideline (うねびせん) (Kintetsu Kashihara Line) which after doing it this way, the Osaka Electric orbit southed from Saidaiji Station (later Yamato-Saidaiji Station), and reached Kashihara-jingu Shrine made a plan [10]. It becomes the form to cross the intermediate part of the Tenri light railway, and the route will have a great influence on the management. I was obliged to carry out the compensation for the Tenri light railway or the purchase as a condition of the authorization from such a thing for Osaka Electric orbit [11]. It was decided that negotiations [12] were continued among both, and Osaka Electric orbit succeeded 132,000 yen, the employee as for the purchase amount of money on October 2, 1920, and a transfer contract was concluded in this way. And I discussed it by an extraordinary shareholders' meeting of October 29 and was approved. The transfer application was authorized on December 6 and became the Osaka Electric orbit Tenri rail line from January 1, 1921, and the Tenri light railway was dissolved without being filled after the opening of business for six years.

Service situation

Time required 34 minutes. 13 coming and going a day were run every approximately one hour and were increased the number of flights for 15 coming and going for a busy season. Because connection at Japanese National Railways Horyuji Station was set at the time by a standard, there was a train in one hour after 23 from new Horyuji Station at the time of the opening of business.

I was able to arrive in from one hour 40 minutes to two hours even if I included transfer in Horyu-ji Temple in Tenri from Minato-cho, Osaka.

On March 10, 1916, a relief station was founded between new Horyuji Station - Nukata part stations.
The storage of engine was at new Horyuji Station, and a top and bottom train changed a train at Nikaido Station.

Traffic of Osaka World Exposition

Traffic of Osaka World Exposition

By the traffic (numerousness or the international exposition it goes in this way) of Osaka World Exposition, I write it down about means of transportation that played a role as the access to the meeting place Secretary of State for the Home Department each other interval in the international exposition (Osaka World Exposition) held in 1970 in Japan or an international exposition meeting place.

Table of contents

Summary

As for the number of Osaka World Exposition visitors, a total of 64,218,770 and international exhibition recorded the number of the visitors of the second place in history in 183 days in the session of from March 15, 1970 to September 13, but the means of transportation will play a big role to deal with the number of people only for it. It was September, 1965 14th that the holding was decided, and "Japan World Exposition association Foundation" was established in October, the following day, and it was established that I fixed the necessary facilities by a session, and the maintenance of means of transportation was given as one, too. In addition, I will say to maintain the city infrastructure taking advantage of this at a stretch, and means of transportation maintenance, city area redevelopment will be promoted in the place not to be related to directly.

Means of transportation in the international exposition meeting place

Monorail

As the cyclic driving route that went round the international exposition meeting places, the construction of the monorail was begun from September, 1968 and opened it on the day before international exposition start and was traveled only during international exposition period in a half year until an end day.

Facilities

I adopted an automatic train operation (ATO), but a crew to push door opening and shutting and the departure button in the same way as Toei Oedo Line not unmanned driving got on the real service. In the platform, a platform door for the prevention of fall was established. 1 line set up a measuring line near current west first parking lot and doubled as a custody line in 検修線.

Vehicle

The vehicle design depends on 榮久庵憲司 which designed a soy sauce pot of Kikkoman. The top part became スラントノーズ of three pieces of front windows, and indoor, with the stylish body based on white, a projection adopted the Japan mounted type that there was not for the first time. The blue obi of the top part rounded it to a headlight by the formation carried in, but was revised first to thin a blue obi. The air conditioner is not equipped (I non-cool the Tokyo monorail). The window adopted one step of drop window with the balancer, but cannot open it fully. A seat was not the thing which spread general moquette all, and the harder seat which I considered for a foreigner was adopted.

Monorail after the end

It was a plan to transfer a monorail in Kodomonokuni of Yokohama-shi, but, after service, the transference was called off by circumstances. All monorail vehicles were detained after an international exposition by 検車線, but they were converted into the update construction of the Tokyu 3000 system train (the first generation) and did part of the vehicle apparatus without existing with all vehicles (e.g., MG is converted into Sakha 3360 form, and this is related to service management having been Tokyu). In addition, that, according to the railroad PICT rial September, 1971 issue, there was a design to misappropriate a new establishment, vehicle 24 900 million yen equivalency, the 1,400 million yen equivalency including electric equipment and the figure, and to utilize the monorail company which did Tokyu with a mother by intermediation of MITSUI & Co., Ltd. which it was an international exposition, and took postprocessing along Denentoshi Line [1].

Access to a meeting place

Osaka municipal subway, Kitaosaka Kyuko Railway

Construction of Kitaosaka Kyuko Railway was decided for a point, the development of the Chisato new subdivision from Esaka Station of Osaka municipal subway Midosuji Line, but I borrowed a site of Chugoku Expressway during international exposition holding temporarily and would make a line in the temporariness to international exposition center mouth, and the whole line of the meeting place line (Senri-Chuo Station - international exposition center Exit Station) which was a line opened it in Namboku Line and temporariness on February 24 before the start.

It was driven at the time of the international exposition holding every two at the minimum and a half minutes when subway Midosuji Line and a through train of Kitaosaka Kyuko Railway were the same level as a rush and bound it together from Shin-Osaka Station from Umeda Station to international exposition center mouth Station in 20 minutes for 25 minutes and carried the transportation of the visitor who came by Shinkansen not to mention the transportation from the Osaka suburbs from the distant place. It is said that I transported approximately 24 million people from approximately 20 million by this route. To Shin-Osaka Station 100 yen (subway 30 yen).

The Osaka municipal subway prepared for the 30 system of the large vehicle for these transportation, and Kitaosaka Kyuko Railway did 2000 system .7000 system .8000 pro-(the first generation) injection (7000 system and the 8000 system are sold to Osaka-shi Traffic Bureau after an international exposition and are admitted into 30 system), too. In addition, it produced four distinguished guest cars which I possess it when road circumstances turn worse and remodeled the 50 system into, but it is said that I was not really used.

In addition, road congestion had turned worse in Osaka-shi and pushed forward a plan to abolish streetcars totally from 1963, and to maintain a subway, but decided to receive international exposition holding decision, and to move it up. As a result, the Osaka streetcars are abolished totally in 1969, and, on the other hand, the subway network will suddenly spread to 64.2km at the time of the international exposition holding from 27.0km at the time of 1965.

Keihanshin district express Railway Corporation (Hankyu)

Of the station temporary between Hankyu Senri Line Minami-Senri Station - Kita-Senri Station from November 10, 1969 to September 14, 1970 "installed 2.2-km mark) from international exposition west exit Station "(※ Minami-Senri Station, and prepared for transportation.

They were told that approximately 9 million people used the international exposition west exit station, and special train "expo direct communication" and the train chartered for a group to turn it down at Juso Station from Kobe Main Line, the Takarazuka Main Line area, and to communicate directly were set. In addition, the temporary semi-express train "expo semi-express" set between Umeda Station, Osaka municipal subway Sakaisuji Line - Kita-Senri Station linked international exposition west exit Station in a little less than 30 minutes. It is 70 yen to Tenjimbashisuji-Rokuchome Station.

I founded Minami-Ibaraki Station to Kyoto Main Line elsewhere as a temporary station (I switch to the permanent construction station with an end almost simultaneously) from March 8, 1970 and decided to transport it from the station by shuttle bus and decided to let you stop at a limited express and the express during international exposition holding temporarily.

In addition, I did it after business of international exposition west exit Station to Senri Line for several years, and Yamada Station opened it as permanent construction Station on the close ground.

Japanese National Railways (Japanese National Railways)

In Japanese National Railways, I reinforced all the formation of Tokaido Shinkansen "Hikari" in 16 formation taking advantage of this and I did "an echo" mainly and there were many special trains and set it. Even if I was called "one of the international exposition pavilions", as for the reason, the Shinkansen, it is said that there are many people who got on the Shinkansen in the case of an international exposition trip for the first time.

In addition, I made Ibaraki Station of Tokaido Main Line Hashigami station building and maintained the station square and assumed it bus communication to a meeting place. I added a vice-designation of "international exposition east exit Station" to the station during international exposition holding and did it with the stop of the rapid train, and I was raised after an international exposition by the official high speed stop. It is 60 yen to Osaka Station.

Furthermore, 1 made a round trip to high speed "expo" between Nagoya Station - Shin-Osaka Station, and 3 coming and going in total set high speed "international exposition" between Kawase Station - Ibaraki Station interval and Ibaraki Station - Nishi-Akashi Station, Aboshi Station. High speed "expo" stopped at Nagoya Station, Owari-Ichinomiya Station, Gifu Station, Ogaki Station, Maibara Station, Hikone Station, Kusatsu Station (only as for the descent), Otsu Station, Kyoto Station, Ibaraki Station, Shin-Osaka Station and was all car reserved seats. High speed "international exposition" stopped at each station between each station, Takatsuki Station, Ibaraki Station, Shin-Osaka Station, Osaka Station, Ashiya Station, Sannomiya Station, Motomachi Station, Kobe Station, Hyogo Station, Akashi Station, Okubo Station - Aboshi Station between Kawase Station - Kyoto Station, and only Nishi-Akashi Station departure and arrival stopped at Nishi-Akashi Station.

This high speed "international exposition" issue was applied in 113 system, but there was the thing which let formation used by Yokosuka Line of Tokyo move to Kansai, and a body color was colored the Shonan ska that did not it-colored, there was not in Kansai. After an international exposition, it is "new high speed" to have started driving using this transference 113 system.

In addition, I was sent to Mishima Station from Shin-Osaka Station, and the temporary night travel express train "expo echo" to connect with Shinkansen "echo" to Tokyo Station at Mishima Station was set.

Express bus

A highway bus of indispensability two hours 20 minutes to go as an express bus to the center Exit via the Meishin Expressway from Nagoya Station was set, and the regular service to bind it together between Nagoya Station - Osaka Station let you go by way of the ground and let you run extra dreams some.

Route bus

Hankyu Bus, Kintetsu (existing Kintetsu bus), three companies of the Keihan car (existing Keihan Bus) which had an area in Ibaraki-shi let "piston bass" be frequent from Minami-Ibaraki Station, Japanese National Railways Ibaraki Station. In addition, a route bus was set via a central belt line from each place in the prefecture. Above all, as for the Japanese National Railways Ibaraki system, it was demanded that it was traveled 189 times a hour in a peak every 19 seconds, and a pad of 10 Bath was made the most of at bus pad 12 Bath of Japanese National Railways Ibaraki, the meeting place east exit. In addition, I set up international exposition Office composed of an employee dispatched at the meeting place east exit by the companies temporarily and made sure of the transportation system.

  • The Japanese National Railways Ibaraki - meeting place east exit (Hankyu, Kintetsu, Keihan combination)
  • The Hankyu Ibaraki - meeting place east exit (Hankyu, Kintetsu, Keihan combination)
  • Hankyu Minamiibaraki - meeting place center Exit (Hankyu, Kintetsu combination)
  • Osaka International Airport - meeting place center Exit (Hanshin Electric Railway, Osaka Airport Transport combination)

In addition, the meeting place direct connection bus from the district was operated between the following places. The following total service number of times becomes 148.5-152.5 times/day.

Airway

Japan Airlines became "the official airline" and I put the logo of the international exposition in almost all machine parts and traveled and hosted country tour package tour for the foreign tourist who visited Japan. In addition, I performed the support to "an international exposition PR caravan corps" over the United States and Canada in July in the holding last year.

Special plan ticket

The following special plan tickets were released.

"An international exposition memory excursion ticket"
It was from Kusatsu Station of Tokaido Main Line and to the west, and, for round-trip fare and the same amount from the area except Kansai, the Nagoya district, Akashi Station east of Sanyo Main Line and Wadamisaki Line, Takarazuka Station south of Fukuchiyama Line, Kizu Station west of Kansai Main Line, Otori Station north of Hanwa Line, Kameoka Station south of San'in Main Line and Nara Line, Osaka Loop Line, Sakurajima Line were able to take it.
"International exposition memory Eck"
With the form called the mediation trip from the Mishima - Nagoya district, it became one ticket to international exposition center Exit Station (with Eck the abbreviation of "the economy coupon").
"An international exposition commemorative ticket"
Round-trip reduced fare tickets from each Osaka, Tennoji, Fukuchiyama, Okayama district to Osaka.
"International exposition プレック"
With "a present coupon" released in a concept to present an international exposition trip a person and a company manager resident in Kansai area by the parents of the hometown and a local customer for short "プレック (PREK)." The plan product which did the round-trip ticket, limited express tickets, international exposition admission ticket from the major cities of the whole country and a free ticket for the station pickup to a set. It was released in Kansai area.

In addition, Hanshin Electric Railway, Keihan Electric Railway sold one coming and going reduced fare ticket to "international exposition center mouth Station "・" World Exposition west exit Station" of Osaka municipal subway, Kitaosaka Kyuko Railway, the Keihanshin district express electric railroad, too, but most of they ticket were able to get on even which course if a fare paid the addition wage for the balance with "west exit" way of the via high "center mouth" so that both of "the center mouth "・" west exit" were usable.

I show the change of the use situation of Higashi-Aoyama Station to the list shown below [7].

  • It is a person, and the unit of transportation results (vehicle ridership) shows a value in the year in total. It is data suitable for a comparison between the year.
  • The getting on and off staff findings is a value in any 1st (a unit: a person). Because a change is big, I need attention for a comparison between the year by the factors such as weather, the event of the investigation day.
  • In neighboring Nishi-Aoyama Station, the number of the users was last now, but there were fewer users our station until Nishi-Aoyama Station moved to the present place.
  • Among tables, I transcribe minimum before the year when I recorded a high with blue with minimum after the year when I recorded a high with red at a high in green.
