The terminal

The terminal

The terminal (しゅうちゃくえき) is a station of the end (terminal), but changes a little how the meaning catches "it is over" (the details mention it later).

Table of contents

Terminal of the train

At the station located midway of a certain pike, judging from the train going only as far as the station in setting (destination) of the train, I can call it with "the terminal". For example, the terminal of the local train for Odawara from Tokaido Main Line Tokyo is Odawara Station.

Terminal of the railroad section

By a track name, a certain route station becoming the terminal is called the terminal. For example, the terminal of Tokaido Main Line reaching Kobe Station from Tokyo Station is Kobe Station. In addition, seeing from a terminal, it can become the terminal in a track name in the initial point. In other words, the terminal of Tokaido Main Line is good at Tokyo Station.

Terminal of the dead-end form railroad section

This lets you do the station which a track does not connect to neither other routes physically at the end of the railroad section becoming dead-end in the upper "terminal of the railroad section". The train departs after arrival to the opposite direction at this station. Naturally, in the point, the starting signal does not exist from there to always become the starting stop, and there are many places where the home signal of the platform this side is attention (Y), or there is only 2 light indication of caution (YY), the stop (R). But, in the station with a plane mawashi line and the increase line, there is 入換信号機 in the direction over there.

In East Japan Railway Co. (JR East), "terminal" is operated from Aomori Station to Mimmaya Station.

A station to give below is a terminal of the dead-end form railroad section in the JR traveler company (as of May 12, 2014). In addition, like Ito Station and Wakura-Onsen Station, the terminal and the station where it is are removed from there that direct transfer allows in other pikes (except a streetcar, the subway) in the yard like terminal, Toba Station and Choshi Station where the track of other railway companies including the private railroad leads to (transfer station) temporarily by disasters such as the terminal to be able to go to in other pikes earlier and the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Hokkaido Railway Co. (Hokkaido Railway)

  • Rumoi Station (,) that it became the terminal by the abolition between the Rumoi - restoring hair from December 5, 2016
  • Hakodate Station (but it is not a terminal because the Great Bear which has been ever operated, the はまなすなどの sleeper train change a direction by switchback and advance to the point.again as for the transfer with the Hakodate streetcar at the station square possibility)

East Japan Railway Co. (JR East)

Central Japan Railway Company (Central Japan Railway)

West Japan Railway Co. (West Japan Railway)

Shikoku Railway Co. (Shikoku Railway Company)

Kyushu Railway Co. (Kyushu Railway Company)

In addition, the railroad section called the terminal is only Kashii Line of Umi Station and Saitozaki Station both ends in the JR traveler company.
