(Don't Cry for Me Argentina) is the musical piece that is the most famous among Andrew Lloyd Webber composition, musical "Evita" of 1978 by Tim rice words without "crying Argentina". This music that Eve Peron was sung in as a subject was added a title of a musical composition called "イッツ only ユア lover re-turning" (It's Only Your Lover Returning) to before Rice decided on the final title. It is sung, and I have the characteristic of the most popular musical piece of Lloyd Webber called the melody to overwhelm tied to regret and the magnificent, impressive theme called the challenge, and this music comprises it in the scene where Evita talks to a crowd at the beginning of the second curtain from a balcony of presidential mansion umbrella ロサダ.

This musical piece shares melody with "watt a circus" (Oh What a Circus) in the same musical.

Table of contents

The first version

Musical "Evita" was born in the form called the album in the past staged on a stage of the U.K. Julie Coe Vinton sang "do not cry Argentina" with a studio album of the announcement for the first time in 1976. The single person of Julie Coe Vinton arrived at the seat of the first place of the British singles chart during one week in February, 1977, and approximately 1 million pieces were sold only in the U.K.

Though I was regarded so that this music sold an album when most suitable, it was thought that it was a little boring music to put success in a commercial chart at first. It was done until the consideration that let Julie Coe Vinton record a substitute printing block according to the other, but an original edition was announced as a single person after all.

The B side was "rainbow high" (Rainbow High), but "you mast ラヴ me" (You Must Love Me) was chosen as coupling music in substitution for this music when a Madonna covered "do not cry Argentina" in "ドント Kurai four me アルゼンチーナ".

Because Coe Vinton did not expect a stage performance, Elaine page plays a position of "Eve" by London performance, and this music is known for the first Broadway performance for the 18th (signature song) of patty ルポーン (Patti LuPone) which played "Eve" in the United States [1].

Ironically, during the Falkland Islands conflict that happened between U.K. and Argentina in 1982, this music might be played by a military band when the military unit of the British military left for the battle front of Falkland. The music of Coe Vinton was prohibited from broadcast in BBC for the same period [2].

Other recording

This music has the following recording.

Paloma sun VAZ Rio (Paloma San Basilio) and Nacha Guevara recorded a Spanish version of this famous music ("No llores por míArgentina"). The song of car tea エプシュタイン became popular with a German version "Wein' nicht um mich Argentinien". Roller ブラニガン did not record this music, but sings in common usage in the concert.
